Go to sandal
It is my go to sandal on and off the river; I have 2 pairs for this season, I only wish it was easier to attach the heel strap. They are secure once I am able to get it attached.

Promises kept...
In the interest of keeping it short and honest, I was highly skeptical when I read the reviews prior to purchasing. How can a sandal feel so secure? Let's just say that it delivers on all fronts.

Awesome River Footwear.

Tight fit
Needs improvement. I’m a half size so I ordered up. Even going bigger the sandal was a tight fit. The mesh on the top of the foot should be able to stretch so I can fit my foot. I couldn’t even secure the back strap. I ended up cutting a slit in the top to allow them to fit properly

Heel clips keep bending open
I’ve been using these for less than one full season. I really like these and they are comfortable, however the metal clip for the heel straps are constantly bending. I wear them on the first loop and they aren’t a challenge to clip on, so I don’t understand why they keep bending. They bend wide open, and then I have to bend them back. They metal is becoming weakened and they’re likely going to snap off and I won’t be able to use the sandals anymore. Disappointed because otherwise these are nice.

Pleasantly Surprised

LA Love
Love these shoes. Worn Chaco’s for 20 years, and still wear them, but these shoes are just different. They look different, the size of the buckles may be a little over kill, but they are just so comfortable and seem to be holding up after a year of my daily wear. The attention to detail is also much appreciated.

Order a full size up - Maybe not for wide feet?
I really liked the look of these sandals, but I'm not sure they are going to work for me. I normally wear a size 10.5 or 11 wide shoe/sandal and so I ordered a size 11 in these. Unfortunately, they don't even come close to fitting. They are pretty narrow, and the foot bed doesn't come close to being long enough. The heel strap buckle is more than an inch away from me being able to hook it on the first loop, let alone the second. I may exchange for a 12 and see if that works :(

Love my Astral sandals!
I’ve been wearing them hard for a few months now working as a fly-fishing guide, and they’ve been exactly what I was hoping for. They’re lightweight and comfortable to wear in the boat while I’m rowing, and they’re protective enough when I’m wading or need to drag my raft through shoals. At the end of the day, I can comfortably wear them to dinner or social events without thinking twice about it. If I had to nit-pick, my only complaint would be that the buckles are noisy and tough to use. Most of the time, for comfort, I keep the straps as loose as possible, even when I’m in the water a lot. However, when the straps are loose, the buckles click and clack together when I’m walking, and it’s pretty noisy when I’m walking in the grocery store, etc. And when I do need to tighten the buckles down, it’s really difficult to grab the tab at the end of the strap… I usually have to take them off to get the buckle tighter. Minor issues, but if you’re striving for perfection, those would be my only gripes!
