Why We Like The Quad Pro Multi Panel Lantern

We like the Quad Pro Multi Panel Lantern because it lends us the ability to easily split off a personal flashlight when we need to stray away from where the lantern is planted. Small panels are magnetically affixed to the side for easy removal, and they all come with three different light modes.

Disappointing. Not all panels light up when mounted in the base unit. All batteries (8 D-cells and 12 AAA's) drain RAPIDLY when the lantern is not in use. Fully-charged batteries drain to nothing within 2-3 weeks of not being used while in this lantern. I would like to purchase a simpler lantern that hopefully will not drain its batteries when not in use, but reluctant to waste money if unsure which lantern would allow batteries to keep their charge.

Terrible for emergencies, ok for camping.

We bought this somewhat pricey lantern after a series of blackouts. The cost of the lantern and the initial battery investment had me thinking that I'd have a great emergency tool at my disposal. Unfortunately, as other reviews have mentioned, it only takes D cell batteries, which aren't rechargeable. This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that the 4 mini lights are constantly draining the batteries to recharge. This means that you need to keep the batteries out of the lantern until it's needed, because if you leave it for a few weeks or months and run into an emergency, all the batteries will be dead. One of the four lights on ours also had never worked when separated from the base, even with new, fully charged, rechargeable AAA batteries in it. Disappointing in and of itself, but you also cannot purchase replacement mini lights, which is just stupid. When the lantern is fully functional, it does a great job. Lights are bright and the stands on the beach of the mini lights are very handy. I did a bunch of work in my dark attic, and this lantern was great up there. But again, this lantern is for very specific short term purposes, and cannot be relied on in an emergency.

defective

The lantern slowly drains the D batteries and is useless if stored with batteries.

Unimpressive Recharging Routine

I was drawn to this lantern with advertising suggesting a USB connection... which I interpreted as "lantern recharging via USB connection". Wrong! USB connection is to attach a cell phone. In order to recharge the lantern, you must physically remove the rechargeable batteries (supplied) within each of the four detachable light panels and recharge them in your own separately purchased battery recharging system. Very archaic and user non-friendly. 8 alkaline batteries (not supplied) need to be inserted into the base of the lantern, but whose purpose I have not yet determined.

Quad Pro Lantern

It is a great product! Bright lighting. And the fact that you can separate it into a set of four individual lights is nice.

so useful and versatile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used for home security (during storm electrical outages) and camping. Liked that each section could be used individually and still emit so much light.

Great idea but constantly drains batteries UNUSED!

Great concept and love the feature set. I bought this for my family for power outages and hurricanes but I ALWAYS have to keep a spare batteries even though I don’t use the lantern until there is an outage. The batteries drain just sitting without use. I have never spent so much money on batteries. I had even bought one for work and recommended it to another coworker before I knew the batteries drained so quickly without usage. Such a disappointment.

A surprising and very useful device.

Where I live, south of Sydney, Australia, we often suffer the occasional blackout from sudden storms. Our daughter came to light for us with this extremely handy device. Now, I don’t hae to grope around for candles in the dark.

Very disappointed

Bought these a few years ago for all the family. Every single one of them died within a few years. And just like another review, they drain the batteries as they sit. Would not recommend. Coleman, very disappointed in your quality anymore.

Great light, but could have been better.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just picked up this awesome light with 4 removeable lights. This is great for camping or really anything, the light spread is really versatile! Only down side is that it requires batteries and is not a rechargeable. Feel like Coleman fell short of a home run with this one...
