Why We Like The Suma Tent

The Suma collection consists of Eureka's lightest tents, and since this 2-Person, 3-season is the smallest Suma Tent available, it is officially Eureka's lightest. We love how its three-season versatility includes a floor and removable fly that provide optimal protection from wet weather, and breathable walls with mesh windows to assure ample airflow in summer's warmer evenings. There is a single door and single vestibule, and inside Eureka included a gear loft and three pockets to keep all the small things completely organized.

Started and Returned.

Back what seams like a 100 years ago I canoed and camped with a Back Country 2 person tent. It eventual wore out ( a lot of trips ) and I replaced it with all sorts of tents even the ultra light ones for backpacking. Now at 80 I'm going back to my roots with another Back country 2 person tent.

Solid choice

I picked up this for an upcoming backcountry trip, which will be a first. I tested on a close to home weekend campout. It was a dry weekend but there were high winds for the are up to 40 mph gusts and this tent stood up great. The tent set up was super fast and easy. The aluminum poles are fantastic, I’m a finicky person with gear and appreciate details other often overlook. For instance the shock cord on these tent poles is amazing, it snaps the poles together making them feel solid yet it is still easy to take down without feeling like you’ll snap an overstretched elastic cord. The extra vestibule space created by the fly is great too. The only slight issue I have is the tent floor feels very thin. I haven’t tested in a wet environment but it was a concern after my first use, but I picked up a footprint and I’m confident that will solve any potential problems.

Was looking for a good lightweight tent for backpack hunting and hiking the AT. This one has been great. Plenty big enough for one person and gear. Two people could sleep in it, but there wouldn’t be room for packs or anything else. It’s been used on a couple of trips so far and is doing fine. Easy to set up. It stayed dry through a heavy rain. No complaints.

The stuff sack for the tent is pretty tight, you have to pack it just right. The poles don't "clip" into place, so they can come out of the tent shell grommets somewhat easily when setting up. Stayed in place during the night. Plenty of space for one person, might be cramped with two. Pretty lightweight.

Perfect, simple backpacking tent

This. tent. rocks. So simple to set up. Very light. Do you see the price? Look at the price, look at the weight. Then consider that it has a vestibule. We use cut-to-fit Tyvek underneath for a ground cloth. Stays dry and cozy in a cold November rain. Or in January. Dry dry. The ONLY reason I give it a -1 is that it has needed two repairs due to production errors. One on the bottom edge of the rain fly, the other at the peak of the tent. Eureka has a fantastic repair & parts operation. Both repairs gratis. We're still rocking with this tent, and it has been several years or so. It sees monthly Scout outings. Very pleased we are with this one.

Cozy tent

This tent is a perfect fit for my wife to use on our backpacking adventures. It offers a great balance of lightweight and budget friendly. It is very easy to setup. The only downside is the single opening. A second door would be nice so you aren’t crawling across your partner for a 3am bathroom break. If you’re looking for a basic tent for two, or extra room for yourself, this is a great option.

Poles do not last more than 7 uses.

Great tent, but after only 7 uses the tent pole snapped. This was used for Scout camping at base camp, never took it backpacking. One of the other Scout leaders bought this same tent with my recommendation, he has used his more frequently that I have and has already had the poles break numerous times. This would be the perfect tent if the poles were more rugged. Eureka tents are a tradition in our Scout Troop, this is very disappointing... We may have to rethink future purchases...

Very happy overall with the product. Like many other products, can be hard to repack it into the original storage sack. Easy to set up and take down. I enjoy the flared out front cover to store my shoes and bag under.

Great product for the price. I looked over lots of ultralight tents and decided on this tent because of its strength and free standing ability. I bought the optional matching tent footprint. I would have given the tent a 5 star but there was no attachment point to pull and stake out the rain fly at the foot to keep it off the tent in the rain. I took a piece of the webbing from the bag, cut it off and had it sewn on the rain fly in the location i needed it. Works perfect now
