Sheds Feathers With Every Wear Every Day

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
large

Weight:

This is my second Rab jacket. I own another Rab down jacket and it's been a great purchase. I've had it for nearly a decade and it's still as warm and functional today as the day I bought it. I got the Infinity Micro Jacket as a Christmas gift this year and I was so excited to have another Rab down coat, this one lighter weight than the previous, in my closet. However, after wearing it very little I've noticed that it constantly sheds feathers. I am picking feathers off of my the jacket itself, off of my clothes when I take off the jacket, and I'm even finding feathers in the drivers seat and the dashboard of my car. To say the least, this jacket has been a massive disappointment. I emailed the company twice to share disappointment and they replied that shedding feathers is a normal part of owning a new down coat. I disagree and am disappointed in the response as some shedding may be part of the process, but this jacket is losing feathers so much it's getting tough for me to wear it as I spend more time picking the down off of my clothes that I care to admit.

It's Puffy and It's Stuffy (in a bag)

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Let?s be honest, we all know that we have several puffy jacket?s laying around the house and what you want to know is why you need to add this one to your rotation right? The main reason I picked up this Rab Infinity Microlight was packability and the outer shell material. I was looking for a jacket to take on my kayak and overnight hiking adventures and this one really seemed to fit the bill. The outer shell of the jacket feels a lot more cloth like rather than the shiny material of other puffy jackets, comes with its own packable bag, has Gore-Tex Infinium windstopper and the down is Hydrophobic. The Hydrophobic down was a big seller especially when you are on Kayak trips, you just never know when you gear might get wet and the faster items dry out the better. So far I?ve only worn this twice but I really like it thus far and will keep it in the rotation for those hiking and camping trips. I would wear this a lot more (aka walking the dogs, trips to the store etc.) but I?m trying to keep it ?smell free? for when I get into bear country. As mentioned in other reviews my one complaint is the lack of an inside pocket. My stats 5?9?, 32? inseam 180 lbs. with a 42 inch chest. I have the Large and I feel it?s just right with room to layer underneath and not feel constricted.

Bought this for my fianc° for his birthday and man does he look good in it. I love the matte finished look and he loves the fit and weight to warmth ratio. It comes with it's own stuff sack which is wonderful, however there is no inside pocket on the men's or woman's version which is kind of a bummer.

Terrific lightweight all round jacket.

Familiarity:

The Rab Infinity Microlight is a great lightweight insulated jacket. I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and I?ve worn my Infinity Microlight at least 30 times so far this late fall and early winter. I?ve worn it for both long and short mountain hikes, walking my dogs at night and in the early morning cold and for just walking around Asheville. I live on a ridge at about 3,000 feet and the prevailing NW wind is cold and breezy in the late fall and winter. So far this jacket has kept me warm and toasty in temperatures down to 21 degrees, with wind speeds in the high 20?s and low 30?s. It?s also been perfect in more moderate weather in the high 30?s and 40?s. Even in the 50?s it?s comfortable, because it breaths very well. I usually just wear base layers of varying density under the Infinity. I add a lightweight Arc?teryx vest when it?s very windy and cold. I bought the XL because I have a 44? chest and I wanted to be able to layer under it comfortably. It fits me well and I do have room to layer. The Infinity Microlight is warmer and more wind proof than I?d thought it was going to be. My plan was to wear it under my lightweight Arc?teryx AR shell when it was cold (in the 20?s) and windy, but so far I haven?t had to do that. The jacket zips up tight on my 17? neck and the hood is very adjustable and can be made to fit tightly. The cuffs are tight and the cuffs of my skiing gloves easily slide over them. The bottom adjuster works well to seal out cold air. The hand pockets are deep and the chest pocket also has lots of room. On one of our mountain hikes, it was about 25 degrees with a 20+ mph wind on the open peaks we had to cross. I was plenty warm in those conditions and also wasn?t sweating when hiking up in the shelter of the trees. The jacket is also relatively tough. So many down jackets rip easily, this one doesn?t. I?ve gone through thickets of trees and hedge type bushes without any ripping, even when the jacket got hung up. It also hasn?t leaked any down yet. Got it in the black color, like its looks. Happy I bought the Infinity Microlight, expect it will last for several seasons.

The Ultimate Puffy

Move over Patagonia ,there's a new puffy in town. The Rab Infinity Microlight Jacket is the ultimate puffy. rom warmth, to fit, to the fact that it's actually waterproof yet breathable, there's nothing this jacket doesn't have. I?ve taken this jacket on a number camping trips in a variety of weather and it hasn?t let me down yet. From setting up in bone-chilling sleet, to cool relaxing mornings at camp, this jacket has set itself apart from other insulated jackets I?ve owned from the other big brands in the space. The weatherproofing thanks to GORE-TEX Infinium technology is truly excellent and it?s clear that the durability is of a much higher standard. I'm looking forward to having this on deck for all of my winter pursuits. And then on top of everything else, I get complimented on it every time I wear it. Look no further, just buy it. I'm 6'0 and 165, and the medium has a great technical fit but not slim. If you're looking to layer with a heavier baselayer or hoodie, you may want to size up.

The perfect insulated jacket...

The Rab Infinity Microlight Jacket featuring GORE-TEX Infinium technology will be your go-to insulated jacket for any situation. From morning tours and storm-day skiing to evening hikes and walking around town, this is my go-to jacket now. The Chlorite Green color looks phenomenal and I've gotten plenty of compliments already. Originally concerned about the tailored looking fit, as soon as you put it on, those fears subside, and you realize this is one of the best-fitting down insulated jackets on the market. The GORE-TEX Infinium integration keeps you dry when the snow begins to fall and keeps you warm when the winds pick up. I've worn this on morning tours, bell-to-bell days at the resort, on hikes in the Wasatch, to work, and around town. It even packs down quite small, making it perfect for traveling, and even makes a great pillow when you want to snag a nap on the plane. Invest in this jacket and you will soon realize the quality and durability justify the investment. I'm 5'8" and about 170lbs these days and the medium fits perfectly. The Rab Infinity Microlight Jacket will be the last insulated jacket you buy for a while.
