Why We Like The Altra Mont Blanc BOA Trail Running Shoe
The Altra Mont Blanc BOA Trail Running Shoe gives us plush performance that brings the tech to conquer those technical trails we race over. With two BOA dials to lock us in, this pair gives us complete control over fit, whether we want it tighter up front or in back, and loosens in seconds to make room for that 100-mile swell. But what's fit without function? The tall stack of soft and springy cushion underfoot flexes with our stride, keeping us nimble and light as we race toward the finishing arch.

Great shoe, questionable quality control.
Normally an 11 - went w a 10.5 in these, perfect fit 1/2 size down. Sadly - quality is lacking. Second pair I've sent back after one run. First a rip, second rubber on the toe ripped delaminated.

Heard about them on a podcast
They are so great that I have a gym pair and a second for everyday! My son has had knee issues, he now wears them and is training comfortably again!

Color is not Maroon; it's orange
I love the shoe but hate the color. Orange is not maroon; the pictures even depict the shoe color as maroon. You need to change the picture and title of the shoe color. Who wears orange shoes other than Tennessee fans????

Issues that aren't covered by Warranty
Altra got bought out by VF Corp; shoes are released with glaring issues that a quick look through the reviews confirms. The heel in the Mont Blanc makes this model unwearable. Warranty doesn't cover fit issues.

No
I get more rocks and dirt in these shoes than any other trail shoe. Why in the world do these shoe have no provisions for gaiters like all other Altra trail shoes? Buyer beware.

Yes depending on model.
Unfortunate issues with insoles which comes out of the shoe while running, specially when crossing rivers and shoes/ socks are wet. Same issue on Mt blanc and Mt blanc Boa.

Let them get worn in.
To be as lightweight as they are, these are surprisingly durable. Many pairs of Olympus and King MTs uppers have disintegrated in the past. I digress... These are like a baseball glove. Gotta give them a wear-in period. I have had at least 8 pairs of the BOA model and all are the same: too tight on the left forefoot until they are worn in. My remedy is to leave them semi-loose until they have stretched out. If that's not acceptable to you, get the lace version. Same shoe, none of the wear-in issues, at least in my experience. I have had 4-5 pairs of those as well.

Sadly did not work out
Mont blanc. Was not able to get heel locked in and no more toe space in front and rubbed side of foot if locked down BOA too tight. Very light comfortable shoe though. Needs one BOA moved to side of heel IMO.

No Gaiter Attachments?
There are two things I look for in Altra trail shoes: Gaiter attachment and Vibram soles. Without those two things, the shoe is not useful to me. Maybe you could put the BOA system on the Olympus?

Perfect shoe for fitness races
I have used this shoe for four Hyrox races. It holds up great during the running and the boa and traction are great for sled pulls and pushes. Looking forward to the potential of new colors for this shoe.
