Fits like the older Lone Peak, less tread
I have a narrow foot and loved the older Lone Peaks with little padding. This feels more like them. Lone Peaks 8 and all weather are now too wide for me in the mid-foot area, so I'm trying the men's Offroad to get adequate length and holding on to this one to see which fits best. I hate to give up the grippiness of the Lone Peaks, so only 4 stars. (I use them primarily for walking and hiking daily; older pairs become gardening shoes).

Ah! These are sooo Narrow!
I have run in the Superiors for 5 yrs now. I bought these shoes in November and just finally had a chance to wear these. But I'm not sure I can. My pinky toe is curling in because they are so narrow.

Way too tight in forefoot.
I love Altras but this design is too narrow and uncomfortable. These are the first pair of uncomfortable Altras I have ever owned. I had to cut my trail run short due to foot pain. Definitely not buying these again but they are very pretty.

Stop changing good shoes!
Why do shoe companies change shoes when they have a loyal fan base? There's a reason why people continue to buy their shoes, but when they keep changing them and there are increasingly more options that are offering large tow box and zero drop, they are going to lose their base. If people, love the shoes then why change them? Superiors used to be low profile like Xero shoes but now they just seem like a regular road shoe. I loved feeling like I wasn't wearing hardly anything on the trails and I'm holding onto an early pair of Superiors! Also, make us colors for nature! These are trail shoes for God sakes.

I used to love the superior.
I have been running in Altra shoes for years - the wide toe box has become a non-negotiable factor in choosing running shoes. When I got my first pair of Superiors (the 4.5) I felt like I had found the best possible shoe for my foot. The Superior 5 required an extra half size increase, which I stuck with when I ordered the Superior 6. It felt like an entirely different shoe. I triple checked the size on the box and tag because the toe box feels SO much smaller and narrower than my previous pairs. Yet, the heel is wider somehow? I had to stop to adjust my lacing three times to get my heel to stop slipping, while simultaneously dealing with numb toes from the lack of space up front. Why did you change the fit so much? I really want to know. Holding my last pair next to this one looks insane. They're the same size and the new ones look at least a full size smaller. I have been brand loyal to Altra since 2019, but I'm finding myself looking for something else.

Seems like a terrible toe box height design flaw
I loved the Superiors. But when these arrived, I couldn't even get my toes into the shoes because the toe box fabric was so tight and low. I bought them on sale and couldn't return and ended up cutting the material off the shoe in hopes of at least salvaging a water shoe.

Bring back Superior 4 or 4.5!
I absolutely loved the older Superiors. I bought multiple pairs of the 4.5 when I saw they were getting phased out. Sadly, the newer Superiors just don't have the same fit. They are narrow and uncomfortable to run in. It's a super bummer, because Altra brought back the joy of running to this flat footed gal. The "improvements" to newer versions don't work for me.

Could not run in these shoes
I have loved running in Superiors for years, stocked up on the 4.5s before they went out of stock and came back to find the 6s FAR too narrow and uncomfortable to make it through a short run.

Not the best fit compared to Lone Peak
I have owned 12 Altra shoes over the years (currently have 5, one for each sport / activity). Almost all have been Lone Peak, 5, 6, and 7. They have all been fantastic with a very similar fit, and perfect for my extremely wide toe box. The Superior 6 was on sale, so I bought it. Love the color (green) and length is fine, but there is a strange feeling of tightness not at the end of the shoe, but at the first lowest lace area. Even with the lace completely loose there is an odd pinching sensation there. I will still wear them, but not for anything serious.

too tight & narrow

I love Altras and have multiple pairs of Lone Peaks, but this style was very uncomfortable for my wide feet. They pinched my feet everywhere in the front because they're too narrow and too short from a height perspective. Bummer because the green color is really nice looking and the material looks like good quality.
