    Versatility at its finest.

You'll end up keeping the Arc'teryx Women's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket close by throughout the year. Wear it by itself from spring to fall on chilly outdoorsy adventures whether you're backpacking or hiking, and then slide a waterproof shell over it for ski sessions in winter. Its Tinthan shell keeps the Atom LT light yet strong, and the DWR coating sheds light rainfall to help keep you dry. Polartec Power Stretch side panels wick moisture, dry quickly, breathe, and provide a four-way stretch for uninhibited mobility.

Arc'teryx also added Coreloft insulation that uses air permeable panels to ensure excellent thermal regulation. A trim fit helps you layer over the Atom Lt with ease, and the StormHood is adjustable, insulated, and helmet-compatible. This jacket also features an adjustable hem for a secure fit, two zippered hand pockets, and one zippered internal chest pocket.

    Lightweight and Warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'2"

I found this jacket to fit a little looser than the other Arc'teryx jackets I own, which is great for when I want to wear a few layers underneath. The yellow color however was more of a tangerine color than what's shown in the image. Still a great color but be aware.

    Ripped within a week

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'9"

I bought this jacket for a 3 week European backpacking trip. It didn't even last being worn a few days before it tore when I rubbed up against a flat surface. Not only was I disappointed that I spent so much money on something that was clearly not the quality one would expect from Arc'teryx, I no longer had a waterproof jacket for the rest of my trip.

To add insult to injury, when I contacted Arc'teryx to address the issue, they basically said "not our problem". They said I could pay them to repair it. Clearly they were not concerned about the fact that a jacket should at least be able to be worn under regular conditions and last more than a week.

Not only would I not recommend buying this jacket, based on the customer service I received from Arc'teryx, I would caution against buying their products. This company is not what it once was.

    Arteryx Atom Jacket

    • Size Bought: Medium

This is an awesome jacket. I have been looking literally for years for a warm, light weight water resistant jacket for travel. I'm tired of taking 2 or 3 pieces. I am thrilled with this one. It is super warm in cool weather (haven't had it in really cold weather yet) but with a thin fleece under or a vest it will be fine. It is so light you hardly know you have it on. It has been great in light rain/drizzle. I'm off to Iceland/Greenland in August and can't wait to put it through it's paces. The medium gave me some room to wiggle in and fit my hips. You won't go wrong with this jacket - so far it's perfect for me.

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'4"

This jacket is so light! It feels like I'm wearing a cloud. It's very soft, good for any weather, and the material seems durable so far. I'm 5'4, 120 lbs, purchased a small, and it fits perfectly with a little room for bulky sweaters.

    Like the concept

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Size Bought: Medium and large
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 140lbs

The large was too big through the shoulders and waist, the medium was too short for my torso, I do have a longer torso, so if you do not it may work for you. Disappointing since I do like the jacket, but neither size fit comfortably.

    Great softshell

Love this jacket for the early spring chilly mornings and nights here in MI. I take this with me everywhere since I'm always cold. Plan on taking with me to Iceland in the summer. It's done well with light sprinkles and wind. But don't recommend for downpour or cold windy days--you'd need a hardshell.

The only slight con for me is the jacket fits perfectly but is a bit snug in the shoulders, but I have a broader shoulders so I can live with it.

light jacket that covers you totally

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I first bought it in my regular size of medium, but I later returned and got the large. The jacket runs small, if you consider putting it on top of other layers, otherwise it will fit snug and tight. It is very light and I didn't yet had a chance to test run it in bad weather, but it looks like it will give me great head and neck coverage.

    Win Win Win!

I gave this as a gift to my friend and here is her review:

The best all around athletic jacket you could ask for! I have two and I wouldn't mind having more. These jackets are breathable, warm, true to size, durable and great for any occasion. I have used mine to mountaineer, ski, climb, camp and walk my dog. The Atom LT packs down small when space is limited, and is easily layered under a shell. The fabric is thick, so I never feel worried that I could get a pull or snag like I am with all of my down jackets.

I'm 5'5", 130lbs, with broad-ish shoulders and the medium fits very comfortably.

    Awesome Jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I wear my Arc'Teryx Atom Hoody as much as possible throughout the entire year. It is perfect on a chilly spring day or as a mid-layer in the winter while skiing and provides the perfect amount of warmth. I have owned several jackets including Patagonia Nano Puffs and this is by far my favorite.

This jacket. I've worn it snow-shoeing and XC-skiing in 20 degree weather. I've worn it during lunch breaks on windy peaks in mid-summer. I've worn it comfortably under my raincoat in a downpour and on 4am winter bike rides (the hood fits over my helmet if I need it to!) I've even slept in it on chilly camping nights. I stuff it into my pack everywhere I go! It's incredibly versatile, lightweight, and comfortable. I own two different colors, and if I could afford more, I'd get another. This jacket has been my best friend through all my adventures!

PS - I am 5'6" 130ish and wear a small. Fits great with or without layers. And the sleeves are long enough for my longer arms.

    Immediate Staple

    • Size Bought: Medium

I wear my Atom LT regularly throughout the entire year. It has the perfect amount of insulation for a mid layer or a lighter jacket. The fleece side panels make it extremely breathable for hiking/skinning. The cut of the jacket is extremely sharp making it the perfect jacket to wear to and from the office. Between casual wear and skiing/hiking this is the perfect everyday jacket.

If you ever find this in a store and try it on, it's too late--you'll probably buy it. It's light, it's warm, it's soft. Like most Arc'teryx products the small details are pretty great. The cuffs keep moisture out of your sleeves and the ventilation under the arms make this a great active mid-layer. I wear this under a shell while skiing, usually over a wool base-layer, and I have never gotten too cold and rarely have I gotten too warm. I've worn it for two full winters now, skiing 50+ days (in the Wasatch mountains of UT) and it's still holding up well--no tears or ripped seams or unwanted distribution of insulation. I know of at least ten other co-workers who own one of these jackets. Plus, it looks great on everyone. I will probably purchase another at some point in one of the fun colors they offer every year.

I just bought my second atom lt! The last one I owned for a year and I really put it through a lot and have been impressed with how well it cleans, how tough the fabric has been and how light weight and practical it is for outdoor sport. It is perfectly light and minimal for! I finally had to retire it because I ripped it up pretty bad chimney-ing up a slot canyon. It was my fault.... So now I get to buy a color (mirage) that I love even more than the last!

    Chang Kong Cliff Road

I Love This Jacket very much!I'm wore it challenged the Chang Kong Cliff Road!
Chang Kong Cliff Road is an extremely narrow and treacherous walkway along cliffs built on Huashan mountain, a scenic mountain in China's Shaanxi Province.
The walkway is only a foot width wide and has been built clinging to the absolutely vertical cliff.
Chang Kong Cliff Road is one of the world's most dangerous tourist spots.

I ordered this as an insulation layer for an upcoming backpacking trip on the Teton Crest Trail but I can see using this frequently while belaying, biking, or just strolling around town.

The material is super soft and seems to be of high quality. The jacket itself is quite lightweight, thin and breathable. I've been very happy with this jacket on windy days as it does a great job cutting the wind. I haven't had an opportunity to test this very thin insulation on very chilly days but it seems like it will be warm enough for about the 40s, potentially even lower if you're generating a lot of your own body heat through activity. It seems like the side panels will help prevent overheating in such cases. The side panels are fleece which is super nice for movement and fit, though this may limit its windstopping abilities.

I really love the fit of this jacket. The sleeves are quite long with an awesome spandex insert at the wrists so that they taper nicely and fit well. If it were't for my darn climber (and ex-gymnast and vball player) shoulders and arm muscles, I would likely be a medium in jackets and tops. However, frequently I have to size up to accommodate--not always flattering. But this jacket is! It somehow manages to skim my torso, with room for baselayers but not restrict movement or comfort of my shoulders!

I ordered it in "Chartreuse" and I am totally happy with the color! It is bright and certainly wont go with everything but it doesn't come across as overly loud. I was a bit worried it would be more of a lime green or almost fluorescent but it manages to stay in the realm of acceptable outdoorsy colors that doesn't clash with the rest of my colorful gear and layers.

    Surprisingly versatile

I got this jacket in the fall after my last lighter winter coat was stolen. I had been looking at a Patagonia down sweater jacket, but the salesperson at the store urged me to check out the Atom. When I first got it, I noticed that wind penetrates the side panels pretty easily, and I was worried that I had dropped almost $300 on a glorified hoodie. Well, I've worn this coat almost every day through this Chicago winter. It's not enough for the most bitter days, but with a little layering, the Atom LT is all I need. I'm so pleased and surprised with how versatile it is -- I'm considering getting an AR too, just to have the slightly warmer option.

    Nice looking, warm jacket!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket as a gift for my mother-in-law who wanted something light and warm. This jacket looks great, is great quality, and very warm considering how thin it is. She wears it all the time and can't say enough great things about it. Highly recommended.

    Good Staple

    • Fit: True to size

Bought as a gift for a friend. She likes the fit and the feel. As mentioned in other reviews, it's super light and warm considering. She tends to get cold easily and mentioned she probably needs a warmer jacket when wearing as a mid-layer under a shell in colder conditions if she's on the hill all day.

    Unanswered Question

What's the length from shoulder to the bottom of the jacket? It says hip but the reviews seem mixed for various heights.

Re: Arc'teryx Atom LY Hooded Jacket sale -$194.25-Color -Mirage
Please advise me why I receive ads selling this jacket but cannot actually purchase it --because I live in Canada..? I have checked and can buy said jacket for 290 but not in the color I want.....Seems Canadians are always getting the worst treatment possible....Await your response....thank you for your time....

I'm interested in the atom lt silver lining color and I'd like to know what does the color closely resemble because the picture looks white. I would use it for learning how to ski so it would be getting damp from the snow . I am 4 foot 11, chest 33 and 108 pounds, do you think the extra small would be fine or would you recommend something else .I do not like anything bulky and I would like to be able to move around good. I do tend to get cold easy. Are there any other lightweight jackets that you would recommend for a petite person like me.

    Hey Lisa,

The Silver Lining color is an off white, soft silver grey. The Atom LT is a versatile, lightweight jacket but it would not be the best choice as a stand alone ski jacket. You could wear it under a technical shell like the Arc'teryx Alpha SV or the Ravenna. Your other option would be to get an insulated ski jacket like the Arc'teryx Andessa or the Fission SL . Feel free to contact me directly to discuss your options or if you have any other questions about Arc'teryx Jackets.

I'm studying for a year in Lausanne, Switzerland, and am wondering if this jacket would be warm enough for those temperatures in the winter (will be between 25-50 degrees Fahrenheit) as a stand-alone jacket over a base layer.

Hey there! I love this jacket and it has served me really well in many conditions. However, I wouldn't recommend it for any colder than 40 degrees F as a stand along jacket over a baselayer, unless you're hiking or climbing and working really hard. It is a fairly light jacket really and the wind penetrates it thoroughly. The Atom AR has a bit more serious insulation and will be a bit warmer, but you may want a high fill (750 or so) down jacket if the temperature will be closer to 20 regularly. Maybe the Thorium AR Hooded jacket? Hope this was helpful.

Am almost 5'11" and am roughly 145lbs..slender but tall...leaning toward buying one but not sure if M or L...recommendation?

I would recommend going with a Large in this particular jacket since it is a trim fit. If for some reason the Large does not fit, we can always help you exchange it for another size for free.

which is warmer the Atom AR or the Atom LT jacket?

    Best Answer

The Atom AR. It has 40g more of insulation and the side panels are fully insulated as opposed to the LT which has Polartec hardface Wind Pro side panels for better breathability. I own both. The LT is perfect for being active in cold weather and a standalone piece in fall and spring. If you want pure warmth the AR is the LT on steroids. Coreloft is my favorite synthetic insulation thus far.
