Buyer beware of dishonest returns dept

I bought these shoes ahead of a spring break trip. I ordered a size 40, which I wear in Birkenstock boots. I had them on my feet for about 60 seconds and determined they were too large. I immediately boxed and returned the shoes- they were shipped back within 24 hours of receipt. Backcountry.com is refusing to refund my credit card stating the item my returned is used. They have done this on several clothing items as well though they have been returned with tags and in their plastic packaging. I attempted to call customer service, which is internationally outsourced, and was told items were documented as received and used condition. Absolutely not the case. I asked for photographs as proof of used condition. They had none Will not shop from backcountry.com in the future they are not an honest company.
