Why We Like The Black Diamond Recon Insulated Pant
Whether we are riding in bounds or out, the Black Diamond Recon Insulated Pant is a must-have for chilly winter days. Built with a 2-layer BD.dry waterproof and breathable membrane, the Recon Insulated Pant has us covered in the deepest of powder. The four-way stretch face fabric allows us to maintain superior mobility when carving through the trees, and Thermolite zoned insulation gives us strategically-placed insulation for the best combination of warmth, breathability, and freedom of movement. The cuffs have a quarter-length zipper for easy boot access, and reinforced instep patches protect the pants from rocks and ski edges. The articulated knees and seat give us a proper fit when shredding down the mountain, and the gusseted construction allows for optimal freedom of movement. Finally, offset side thigh zippers allow us to increase our airflow and let off excess heat when we get too hot, while the high-mounted snow gaiters ensure the snow stays out of our pants.

Sweet Lift Access pants
These add the warmth I was looking for for lift skiing in the mountains. Warmer but still really light feeling. I like that if I do a boot pack hike out of bounds I can unzip the legs and dump heat. They are looser fitting than I like, actually baggy like old school pants. If I made a change I’d take them in and lose some legs pant rub noise when booting up. These are really nice pants for ripping around the resort.

Very nice pants
The fit is perfect for me. L 5'11" -195#. The built in belt is a very nice feature and there is a bit of extra room in the waist to tuck in your base layer or a vest.

Sizing issues
When ordering, I sized down after reading other reviews saying the pants run big. I am 6' 170lbs with a 32 X 32 pant size. I ordered a Medium and the pants are comically too large and boxy. When spending good money on gear marked as high performance technical wear, it should fit properly. I will be returning.

Functional and warm
Warmer than it appears, fits perfectly. I like the deep pockets, and inner pouches. Fits my needs perfectly. This is better than I expected.

Warm & Functional
These pants have just the right level of insulation for resort days in the Canadian Rockies. The additional belt loops are a nice in additional to the built in belt system. The material seems strong so far and takes some abuse.

Great pants for snowy mountain sports
I wear these with the matching jacket for skiing, snowboarding, and ice climbing and they’re great for being warm but not too warm during high output activities in freezing conditions. Love how secure the elastic cuffs are over my boots and appreciate the pockets to keep things dry and warm like my phone or wallet. I got a small and I’m 5’5” and 125lb. The waist fits well if I cinch the built in belt down. The legs are a little long for me but at 5’5” it’s pretty impossible to find anything that fits perfectly so I’m not complaining. The length is only really a problem if I’m wearing tennis shoes while driving to the mountains though and I can roll the elastic cuff up over the excess pant just fine. Looks a little wonky but gets the job done. Overall I’m a huge fan and don’t think I’ll need another pair of snow pants for quite some time.

Little warmer, little happier
I wanted ski pants that provided a little more warmth than my goretex shell pants. These do the job great! Little warmer, little happier. The quality is top notch. Great zips!
