When it rains it pours!

Enjoy the new material, perhaps the closest to 'water proof & breathable' I have had! I also like the stretch, having one draw cord on the side (not two in front always getting in the way of things-including harness), and the adjustable hood - helmet capable.

new stormline rain shell

My last light weight rain shell was an Arcteryx which lasted 10 years before the seems came apart. This BD shell looks to be better made & sealed than the Arteryx shell which will be a huge plus. I particularly like the hood & the ability to fold it up in its pocket so I can carry it while climbing!! Color is vibrant & easy to see in case I need a pick off!!

Have yet to Test it in a Down Pour

Great looking build to this jacket. Sizing was in line with expectations. Packs down extremely small. Great lightweight piece. I will circle back once it gets bumped around in some subpar conditions.

Light and stretchy

Very lightweight and stretchy. Has put zips which I didn’t know it had, it also stuffs into its own pocket. The large fits me well with some room to layer up, I’m always on the cusp between large and medium, 5’10” 175 lbs. Haven’t used it outside yet.

Top rain coat

This is the second Stormline I’ve had. Love the fit, 6’1” 180#’s size L, love the weight of jacket. Jacket does a great job keeping moisture out and under layers dry. Also does well with wind and easy to layer under. My first Stormline’s inner layer started to peal after about 2 years, finally had to trash it this past fall. I will say the item was used … a TON, so overall I was very happy, and I’m glad to purchase a replacement.

Excellent Jacket for WInd and Water

I purchased the Men's Stormline Stretch, size Medium in Raging Sea. The color was very much like the pictures: a forest green but with a lighter hue. I am 6 ft. tall, 165 lbs. and the jacket fits great. Sleeves are a little long for me, as the cuffs are almost over my hands. I noticed that the material is smooth and does not make a rustling or crinkling sound. The back is long, which could be good for snow sports (no snow down your back). I really like the sealed zipper, you can tell it is of a nice quality and keeps the water out. Speaking of water, when there is precipitation, water droplets bead and then run off the jacket. This makes it easy to shake water off of it, when hanging it up. The jacket is breathable but windproof, which is nice since I live by the coast.

Very lightweight, breathable and not

Very lightweight, breathable and not bulky at all. Best rain shell I've used.

Self rescue

Thus just arrives so i haven't lht it to work yet, bht it feels right. 40 years ago the first experience on Sentinel in Yose, I was partnered with a new companion. We had only one other grade V together and not quite smooth in our delivery, we had bivied a couple pitches short of the summit. So on our next second project, I suggested that he bring along a super light rectangular down bag he owned. His rep!y in demuring was "if you bring bivi gear you inevitably use it". I brought a very compact wind suit, pants and anorak, stowed in an accessory ditty bag and flipped to my harness. We punctuated the ascent laced down to a pair of stacked sit down ledges. Around 1:00AM my partner woke me up. ". . .I'm becoming hypothermic, you must give me half your wind suit". He got the pants and tho I pulled my legs up inside the jacket I shiver bivied till dawn, A better outcome than a body recovery retreat. This recent acquisition will let that venerable outfit settle into dignified retirement. Judging from the fit and build I will pop for a backup set next time it comes on sale. It is light enough to bring doubles and will save me the agro of being dead right next time I findmyself paired with a stubborn ropemate
