Caldera 6

Sorry ,bought caldera 6 from a shop in Keswick , absolutely love them. Do you have the same type of shoe or boot as the 6 but waterproof?

Super comfy

I was super excited to get through to the last run in the couch 2 5k and awarded myself a new version of the Caldera, which was super comfortable and gave me wings! Unfortunately my calves weren’t ready for wings and I knackered my solgus muscles. No running for me.

First Impressions…

First Impressions… These shoes look and feel great. I previously had the Altra Timp 5s and the Altra Mont Blancs. Both Altra shoes didn’t feel comfortable after long miles. These however feel like they can last a while. I run on the road with the Adrenaline GTSs and love those because of the support and cushion. I always thought my feet were relatively flat and I over pronated but recently got my feet scanned/gait analyzed and that’s not the case. I highly recommend seeking this out before buying any shoe. Anyways, these are only my first impressions of the Caldera 7s but so far they feel great and supportive. Even with all of the cushion I still feel the ground and feel in control of each step. I only have a couple of miles (road miles) so I will update when I get mire mileage under my belt with these, especially trail miles.

Chose a men’s size for my woman’s foot and the width provided what my podiatrist required. Perfect result.

Perfect for long endurance runs

My 28km long run was blissful. Shoe is super cushioning but the toebox feels quite a bit wider than previous versions so the toes have some breathing room, but still feels secure. Love them, could be my fav Caldera yet!!

Caldera 7’s have a problem

I have to be honest. I prefer the Caldera 6 far more than the Caldera 7. I got the 7’s without trying them on (bad move) because of my great experience with the Caldera 6’s. They are tighter around the toe box and move a lot in the shoe. I found myself constantly readjusting my right shoe as the sole felt like it was sliding while running on the trail which put way more strain on my left foot and left my leg and hip sore from my last run. In addition they don’t hold up well in bad weather or long distance runs. It felt like rocks on the bottom after about 12 miles. I hate writing a negative review because I love Brooks and I’m extremely loyal to the Caldera 6’s. But yeah the new version just isn’t doing it for me. I’ve worn them four times but concerned with using them on more technical trails.

From the minute you put these on you can tell they are something different. Put 20-30 miles per week on rocky trails on these shoes and they perform very well. Like the Cascadia's before these but now prefer these as little to no break in time required at all. Lightweight and sturdy shoes.

I am a walker instead of a runner. I love the bright yellow color and they are comfortable and I am happy I purchased them.

The Trail Trifecta: Shoe 2 of 3

Keywords: Cushy and Fun Pace: Moderate to Fast Pros: This shoe loves to keep you on your toes. I found myself creeping up and surpassing paces I have never seen before. Fun and exhilarating, the Caldera 7/V3 foam is my favorite trail setup. This shoe provides its best performance on hard packed and flat to rolling terrain. The heel to toe rocker combined with the gracious slab of V3 underfoot give you something you can press into and literally feel the return. Con: Sluggish and effort-absorbing on uphills. Need something with a little more snap to scale the sides of mountains? See the Catamount 3 instead.
