Great in concept, but they lack refinement.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to try these shoes because of the built-in gaiter. I was disappointed after I tried them on. Overall they felt like a sloppy fit without much padding on the sides of the shoe. I ultimately returned them because the right shoe had a lumpy seam between the instep and the heel that would have caused a nasty blister.

Amazing all-around shoe!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these as approach and hiking shoes. So far, I have only been able to use them on snowy dog walks 1-2 miles long. I wear them with ankle-length wool socks. Here are my pros and cons (really short cons list!): PROS: 1. Extremely stylish! Got compliments the moment I put them on. So glad Columbia is not only making functional but also stylish and multi-purpose products like these! 2. Waterproof - walked in show in them to test them out and they are indeed waterproof. 3. Extremely comfortable right out of the box. No break in period required! 4. Easy no-lace system. Easy to take off and put on, which is what attracted me to them as crag shoes. 5. Plenty of room — do NOT size up. I had a full thumb or the two finger length rule of extra space from my toes to the end of the shoe for hiking downhill. 6. super supportive and cushioned. 7. grippy - great traction CONS: 1. No rock plate to protect your feet if you use them as trail runners. 2. Limited colors. The black is so modern and easy to style though, this is a minor issue for me. Overall, a killer shoe. no regrets!

Do not size up!
I typically wear a size 10 in most shoes, sometimes a 10 1/2. I opted to size up and order a 10 1/2 (black) in these, thinking I would need the extra room for thicker socks. They were huge! Ordered another pair in my typical size 10 and I still have plenty of room. My feet are average width and I would say these run a little wide. Very comfy right out of the box!
