Why We Like The Columbia Mighty Mogul II Jacket

From their first lesson on the bunny hill to checking off that last black diamond from their trail-map bucket list, the Columbia Mighty Mogul II Jacket is one of our favorite options for keeping the little shredder in our lives warm and dry at the resort. It features a breathable, waterproof construction for the deepest snow days, with robust insulation keeping kids cozy on cold lift rides. Plus, we know our frigid babes appreciate the Omni-Heat thermal reflective liner bouncing body heat back for extra warmth in especially cold winds.

Color is a bit darker than the pictures

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very warm and comfy ski jacket. Great for wind and snow protection. I like the cut-out at the bottom, as it not only increases range of motion required for winter sports, but also improves the fit for bottom-heavy girls.

girls jackets

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Christmas gift she liked. Color and fit good. Girl 8, the large fit well with some growing or layering room.

Cute coat!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Warm and light weight. Not bulky, able to move around and play while wearing.

Very nice, warm but not bulky.

My daughter loves this cute little coat! I was worried it would be bulky, but it isn't at all. Looks super warm, and she loves the thumb holes in the inner sleeve. She loves the colors, the pockets, the "gold warm spots" on the inside, everything. Happy camper over here!

Great damp, cold weather coat

Waterproof warm coat. I especially like that it grows with my child. Best winter coat purchase!

Great jacket!

My daughter absolutely loves this jacket. We walk to school in the snow and she is always warm and dry, even after a quick stop to make a snow angel. I love that it keeps her warm without being bulky, she has room for layers but hasn’t needed them yet, even in 19° weather. The length is perfect!

Sizing not proportional

Bought for my 4 yr old (41" tall & 40lbs) I wish that Columbia offered the Toddler Jackets in a 5T. They don't so according to their sizing chart we ordered this in an XXS. The extra fabric that stretches out from the forearm with a thumbloop seems tight, the sleeves seem long proportionally, and the bottom hem is long and around the hips is very tight. When she has the snowpants on its hard to zip it. But then it seems large in the hood, chest, and shoulders.

Great features except…

Had this jacket not even a month and already a huge tear it in. Warmth factor is there as well as staying dry just really disappointed in the quality on this product as it wasn’t a cheap purchase.

Mighty Jacket, but...

I've been buying this jacket for many year for my children. It is fantastic and lasts long time. My daughter was in it for 3 years and the jacket still looks great for my younger daughter. However, in the past few years, the changes to the jacket (little things, but important) made it worse. For example, the zipper guard at the top of the jacket. Who wants to get their chin scratched while skiing in the cold weather? No lift ticket pocket on the sleeve? Really? Now, more than ever with Covid, all the ski resorts have touchless scanners. The breast pocket isn't helpful at all. Also, the hoodie of this jacket is smaller than it used to be, doesn't fit the ski helmet. But the most important feature is the tight fit at the bottom of the jacket. It used to be looser. With the tighter fit at the bottom, if the kids wear snow pants, there's no way they can move comfortably in it, let alone ski in the jacket. Please Columbia, bring the original Mighty Mogul back with the big hoodie, sleeve pocket, zipper guard at the top, and looser bottom. Thank you!

So far so good.

I bought two of these coats, one for my daughter and one for my son. The quality looks great. Although, I don't understand why the girls sleeve has some fleece by the cuff but the boys doesn't. I would have appreciated my son to have the same. Anyway, size wise, it was gigantic. I had to return and size down. They really liked the coats though and my daughter was dying to get out of it after a couple minutes because she was so warm. I have a feeling this coat will be great for our winters and the snow. I loved all the pockets, and some were deep pockets! I also love the fleece lined hood and a very deep hood. We don't really do any snow sports so no need for a. helmet but I would say this will definitely accommodate a helmet. My kids do play in the snow quite a bit and hoods have always. been an issue going over hats. I have to say, this is based mostly on initial impressions and sizing. We aren't in winter so I haven't had them test it truly but based on experience from past coats, this is a definite upgrade for us. Fingers crossed we can use these coats for a couple winters.
