Gonzo Grill

After a long day of hiking, there's nothing more rewarding than a Gruyere-stuffed burger with slices of slightly warmed Granny Smith apple, sauteed onions, and a handful of fries hot off the griddle. But unless you have a restaurant-grade kitchen in the back of your pickup, the only way you'll accomplish such a culinary feat is if you pack along the Eureka Gonzo Grill—or head back into civilization for some semblance of scrumptious goodies. But why leave the campsite in search of greener pastures when you can cook such tasty snacks from the comfort of your very own temporary home?

Built for aspiring or experienced chefs alike, the Gonzo is a flexible and compact cooking system that elevates your campground dining experience. An adjustable spindle allows you to customize the fuel flow to offer everything from a light simmer all the way to a rolling boil—simply twist the knob an additional turn to increase heat flow. The steel lid is fashioned with adjustable vents for a customizable cooking or smoking experience.

More importantly, though, the Gonzo features a cast iron griddle top that's suitable for pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches. Or, should you desire a slightly different cuisine, flip the griddle top over and you'll find the Gonzo suddenly transforms into your very own cast iron grill. A drip tray is included and dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, while the integrated grill scraper helps you make the most of your Gonzo, ensuring an easy-to-clean experience and a longer life for the stove. If you should prefer more congenial food, such as mac and cheese or a sauce-based dish, the recessed stove grate allows you to cook as you would at home. But then again, you aren't at home, so grab that ground beef and get to grilling.

Two uses, then stopped working. No gas to burner.

I furiously googled while camping this weekend trying to figure out while my grill wouldn't work. No gas was getting to the burner. Sadly, found several other reviews here stating they had the same problem and that it was a failed regulator. Was not able to use or get working again. I guess I have a very expensive piece of scrap metal now... as the first two uses were last year, and it's no longer warrantied. Would have hoped for this price that parts would be of higher quality and last more than a couple uses.

Promising, but disappointing.

Got this as a gift and was very excited to use it once summer came. I even gave away my old grill in anticipation. First weekend out: packed up some burgers and headed to the outdoors. We took a 3 hour canoe trip to our campsite, and were starving after setting up camp. Ready to fire up the GONZO…. No ignition. Tried again…. No ignition. Maybe use a match? No ignition. We ate some granola bars and called it a night. Had to head home the next morning as with an open fire ban, we had no way of cooking our meals. Best of all, because it was a gift, ITS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, AS I CANT PRODUCE PROOF OF PURCHASE. Gone to the scrap yard for recycling.

Awesome Grill

My kids got it for me for Father’s Day last year. Perfect size for a retired couple. Cooked, steaks, burgers, eggs, pancakes and pizza so far. Easy to clean and well built. My kids know I like quality products, so they found the perfect gift. It also looks good on the picnic table. Peter

Piece of JUNK

I bought this thinking it would be great to use out camping. Used it twice and after that would not light again. No gas. I inquired about warranty. No answer. A year later a guy called me from Eureka and asked me if problem was ever resolved, I told him I gave up. He said they had a problem with the regulators and said Eureka would send me a replacement. It’s been over 6 months and no part or correspondence at all. Stay far away from this grill, JUNK!

Catastrophic Meltdown!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

**Update** - 10/7/20 - After posting this review Eureka Camping offered to send me an new grill I haven't received it yet but will give an update when I have tested it out - still unclear why the first one melted down. I purchased a Gonzo Grill in April, 2017 and had used it on 4 previous camping trips with no problems. This Summer I was cooking dinner on it when inexplicably the plastic base melted down around the edge where the metal touches the base and the grill is now completely lopsided and useless. Being that this was such an expensive grill I am pretty disappointed that it malfunctioned so catastrophically after only a few uses...not only is it damaged beyond repair but this meltdown is dangerous and this product should probably be recalled as somebody could get hurt when this occurs. I also reached out to the manufacturer about this issue on 7/31 and they finally got back to me on 9/11 - stating that if I shipped it back to them (on my dime) they would give me a discount on a future purchase. :(

Perfect for RV camping!

Recently bought a small RV and I have been working to get together an efficient collection of things to make camping fun and easy. This was the perfect grill addition and I plan to use it a lot!

Need better engineering

Griddle needs to be 2 inches bigger for bacon or 2 pieces of french toast. Need to be able to hang lid on side of grill while cooking. Need to be able to store fuel line under lid so you don't have to turn grill upside down.

Doesn’t work straight out of the box....

Auto starter doesn’t create a spark. More important is that the knob will not open the grill to release the gas. I’m in the process of waiting for customer service to assist. I love the idea and am hoping this is a one time issue with Gonzo Grill. Happy to edit to a better rating if I can get one to work.

Great grill, bad fuel regulator

I bough this grill a while ago and so far loved it! I have probably used it a handful of times and I am sad to say that the fuel output is not working anymore! This totally ruined our memorial day...I will try to see if this part is sold separately, otherwise it is a very expensive grill that will have this part failing (apparently it is a common occurrence, judging by reviews)
