Rebel Approach Shoe

Compared to Evolv's other approach shoes, the Women's Rebel Approach Shoe is more durable than the Cruzer and more casual than the Zender. It's ideal for climbers who want to frequent sport crags, climbing gyms, and hangouts in the same shoe. The Rebel's vegan upper is ruggedly water-resistant to keep clean on a rainy, muddy day.

Love...once I switched to black laces

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
9.5

I thought at first they were a bit tight, but lengthwise they are perfect and they molded to my width a bit - but they are tight so I can't wear them all day. I do use these as approach and have found them to be very much confidence inspiring - great grip, because they are tight around my foot they provide good stability, and they are stiff - but they are also a big bulkier than other approach shoes I've owned. Considering buying a second pair in another color.

Great shoe; wrong sizing on Backcountry

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

This shoe is hella comfortable and good looking (other than the white laces which should be black). HOWEVER-- backcountry sizing is incorrect. I always order by EU sizing (EU 40)-- according to backcountry size guide this would equate to a size 9. In actuality, the shoes I rec'd were an EU 41. SO-- I bought another pair in size 8.5, but I now have rec'd a size 9.5. Something is going on with sizing at backcountry. Be sure you check the Evolv website for correct sizing. Unfortunately, the 8.5 is now sold out so I'm left with two shoes that are too big. Oh well! I ordered from Evolv website instead. I plan on wearing these as a true approach shoe, and I'm looking forward to it.

GREAT Style, not the function for me

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:

I bought a few pairs of approach shoes to try as I'm looking for something that will be sticky, yet supportive enough to wear while lugging a heavy pack full of trad gear for a mile or more. I tried a pair of the tan (latte) in my usual street size. They fit true to size, felt initially comfortable and supportive (the insole has some arch support), and I love them aesthetically. (Except black laces instead of white would have been better.) Love that they're vegan. The uppers seemed durable. About the same stickiness I've had in other approach shoes. Most retailers carrying this shoe didn't have any user reviews yet, but I did notice that that Evolv website describes this shoe as much more casual and more for streetwear than for outdoor crags. Outdoor Gear Lab also had some good insights from testing the men's version, which was mostly that they weren't great for hiking, which is a huge need for me. I was tempted to keep them just as a casual street shoe and as an option for short approaches, but, you know, money and priorities. So based on the additional information I found on other sites, I'm returning these and trying some La Sportivas next.
