Why We Like The Yupik Parka

We like the Yupik Parka for exploring ski towns in the middle of winter. It has the same waterproofing as the ski jackets we wear on the resort all day, and plenty of insulation for nighttime crawls up and down main street. Supreme Microloft insulation ensures warmth in winter's frigid temperatures. We also like that the faux fur ruff keeps snowflakes off our face whether we're enjoying a ski vacation or shoveling the driveway back home.

Fjallraven NUUK fomerly known as YUPIK

This Parka is awesome,,sustainably correct in terms of environment safety or no harm done to winged or 4 legged creatures of the Planet,,I got the black color in medium,,the length will cover one's bottom,,arm length is longish so one doesn't have a short arm effect when your arms are raised up,,pockets on top of pockets,,both sides of it have the exact same amount of pockets inside & outside,,plus there's a pocket on the left sleeve,,the hood is spacious enough to cover your face during blustery wind & swirling snows,,another feature is that it is machine washable,,the zip tabs are leathery material long in length so when wearing gloves/mittens you wont have to take either off to zip it up or down,,it doesnt have a drawstring on the waist to cinch it in or out to accommodate your waist,,the zip is left handed,,not an issue for me,,but others may have that particular concern,,the brand logo is discreetly on the left upper snap pockets,,For me this brand will be my favorite Brand because its durable,,functional to be worn daily during the winter season,,Fjallraven has a number of Parka's & Jackets that will fit your needs for whatever season it is,,This Parka will allow a person to carry everything for the day or night in its many pockets,,also based on others reviews they suggest that a person size down 1 size,,but thats a personal preference,,for me I got it in my usual size. If you want a very warm parka,,that is not above 1thousand dollars,,this is the ONE,,PERIOD.

I did a ton of research before landing on the Fjallraven Nuuk parka, and I could not be happier with my choice. I researched Patagonia, Columbia, Canada Goose, Nobis, Arcteryx - you name it. I came closest to Nobis - THIS close - but the $1100 price tag just felt ridiculous especially when I started looking at all the features on this Fjallraven parka that NONE of the Nobis parkas had. Then I dug into what felt like a zillion reviews, emailed Fjallraven with questions, and chatted online with a Backcountry rep and bought this jacket. IT IS AMAZING. Not sure why some reviews complain about sizing because I got a Medium, which is my usual size for everything, and it fits like it was made for me. Enough room to wear a sweater underneath but also snug enough to do the job it's supposed to do: keep me warm and dry and comfortable. The hood adjusts perfectly. I can adjust the sleeve opening to tighten when I'm not wearing gloves and loosen when I am so the gloves slide perfectly under the sleeve hem to seal in warmth. There are pockets galore on this jacket which I love because I hate putting stuff in my pants pockets. I carry my phone, beanie, keys, masks (now a staple in COVID times), air pods, even a small battery pack at times, and that still does't use all of the pockets. Yes, it's a heavy jacket, but it's meant to be heavy and warm. That is why I wanted it. Seattle winters are windy and wet and can get pretty cold. I've worn this jacket over just a sleep t-shirt to walk the dogs at 5am when it's 12 degrees outside and let me tell you - It was like I never left my warm, cozy bed. I went back and forth on color and opted for black because it's pretty basic and you can wear it with everything, but honestly, I'm seriously considering buying a second one in another color (brown or green) just to have the variety. Warm, soft, versatile, and fits like an absolute dream. And it outperforms my far more expensive Arcteryx jacket in every way. OH - one final thing - yeah, the zipper is on the opposite side because it's a European jacket. It takes all of 10 seconds to adjust to this. If you skip this jacket over such a tiny detail, you are missing out big time.

First thing... This jacket is overpriced. It should be around $250. The jacket feels great. The fit is great. The arm holes are perfect. I tried many parkas including TFG, LLBean etc, and the arm holes seem to be an issue where you can't raise your arms up without the the jacket sticking up over the shoulders. It's very uncomfortable. Not with this jacket.. It's just right. The problem with this jacket is that the sleeves are too long, going past your arm wrist. I am not the biggest fan of velcro cuffs, but I can live with it. The jacket is slightly tight around the torso and does stick out around the mid chest area, but not that noticable. When you button down the bottom of the jacket, it's a bit tight around the legs (just below the waist). If this jacket only had ribbed cuffs, I'd give it five stars. The jacket does run large. Go one size down!!!
