Why We Like The HOKA Anacapa Breeze Mid Hiking Shoe
When bagging peaks, we keep it quick and steady with the HOKA Anacapa Breeze Mid Hiking Shoe. Built with HOKA's Hubble Geometry tech, the light yet rugged platform flares side to side and out the back for a more stable stride on technical, rolling terrain, while the sticky rubber and multi-directional lugs shore up every step. As we tick off the miles, the plush foam absorbs shock and returns energy to fight off fatigue, and the airy mesh panels keep our feet breathing easy.

Overall great shoe
Personally, I need a bit more stability through the ankle area; but I can't fault the hiker. It is otherwise super comfortable, breathable and I like the traction. My significant other and I do a lot of "off-road/trail" hiking, mainly grasslands, fields, and wooded areas, and these have held up very well - even in moderate rain conditions (no leakage or slippage in the areas we hike). I do wish there were half sizes in women's styles for my size -- or a broader variety of colors for both men & women.

I would buy this again
Shoes cushion great. The only beef I have is that the laces aren't long enough to use all of the spots and be able to tie them.

Durability is questionable
Love the way the boots feel but the bottom shoelace eyelet popped off after 3 uses. Not something I expected to happen from a near $200 boot.

Not buy again
The laces and loops are ridiculous cheaply made and will not last Im sure. Almost impossible to tie snuggly. Rest of shoe is fine. Normally love Hoka's. These won't last 3 months

Shoe strings are too short!
Great show but why are shoe companies cutting it short by including shoe laces that barely work????

Why doesn't HOKA make hiking boots for a wide foot?
For those of us with problem feet (Hallux Rigidis, mid-foot arthritis, etc), HOKA should create a hiking boot that meets all the following criteria: Full heel-to-toe rocker sole Waterproof Mid-rise (to the ankle) for extra ankle support Rugged, with a stiff forefoot Comes in a variety of widths as well as lengths, especially wide (2E) There doesn't seem to be a hiking boot on the market today that hits all these criteria. The Kaha-2 comes closest, but it doesn't come in Wide. If it did, I would buy a few pairs of them.

Excellent hiking shoes
I had never done any real hiking, other than being in USMC, as I live in Florida. Friend talked me into doing Savage Gulf 25K Ruck Race. Found these for the race. I'm pretty sure they saved my life many times and prevented many ankle injuries as that race is no joke!

Possibly
Like all Hoka shoes I've purchased they are immediately comfortable. As far as a hiking shoe I'm not certain how they will hold up on rough or rocky terrain. They don't feel like they have a very rugged construction and more like a medium weight hiking shoe. Because of what I've mentioned I'm concerned how they'll hold up under additional backpack weight and over long miles and hours day after day.
