Icebug Metro2 BUGrip Women's Boots

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I live in NH and am currently wearing my second pair of Icebug boots. Our niece in Colorado had surgery and told me that she was afraid to go outside for fear of falling on the ice. I ordered these for her and love the color combination. Despite being later in the season she's had plenty of opportunity to wear them, feels safe and LOVES them!

I purchased these boots when Jackson Hole experienced the largest snowfall in years, and thankfully I was able to walk around and get the needed grip

After moving to NH from the mid Atlantic in December and within 2 weeks falling flat on my face on the ice (badly hurting myself, blood everywhere!), I went on a serious hunt for boots will real traction. IceBugs with their metal spikes are the real deal. It seems almost impossible to slip with these on. Now the downside is you cannot walk around indoors, you’ll slip on tile indoors or wreck your hardwood floors, but for the outdoors these are THE ONES.

I had never used Icebug products before, however, I have been able to test out these Metro 2 BUGrip boots in "devil mud", uneven ground, everyday wear, and on the recent ice we had in Texas and they are some of the most amazing boots I have had! We get what I call "devil mud" which is basically a mixture of clay and dirt that gets insanely slick when it gets wet. I was stoked to try these boots out since they have carbide-tipped studs, and let me tell you. They did not disappoint. The held up to every slick surface I put them on, the only thing I would recommend against is trying to walk across sheet metal that has ice on it, as these boots didn't have quite the right type of grip for that. After several days worth of rain I was also able to test their waterproofness in the new "ponds" I all of a sudden had at my house and they handled amazingly! The only downside is that if you plan on standing water nearly up to the tops of these boots for a long time, they can seep a tiny bit around the zipper from what I noticed, however, it was hardly enough to even make my sock damp. The only real "cons" would be that the sound of those studs can get super annoying if you have to run around indoors and if you have larger calves, I definitely recommend wearing tall socks to keep a bit of a buffer between the boots and your skin since they can rub a little bit sometimes. All in all, while these boots have a couple of minor annoyances, they are incredible and I will ABSOLUTELY be using them throughout this winter season as my go-to boots! #BackcountryGearhead
