The Mammut Nordwand Pro HS Hooded Shell Jacket is specially designed to give us reliable protection as we climb higher into the alpine zone on exceptionally technical routes. Whether we're mountaineering or ski touring, the hardshell jacket is fully featured to ensure we stay dry and comfortable with a helmet-compatible hood, zip-off snow skirt, and intentionally placed pockets that are accessible while we're on belay. GORE-TEX PRO waterproofing blocks wind and snow from cutting through our layers, and the incredible breathability helps to move sweat away from our skin while we're working hard. On grueling climbs, we can open the underarm vents to circulate air without having to sacrifice any protection from the elements.

Awesome shell- I bought this for my Denali trip and it is bomber. Minimal bells and whistles, which is what I look for in a shell. The hood is huge, which is great for windy, snowy days. The cuffs are easily adjustable, even with gloves on. I like that the waist is a bit long- it doesn't ride up with a pack on. I highly recommend for high alpine mountaineering.

Good jacket but the hood is not well tailored.
The jacket fits really well and I like the cuffs and the heavy duty velcro on them. The removable powder skirt seems to be sturdy enough for the system to last the jacket. In my view, the hood needs some adjustments where the draw string wraps around in the back (it is too low and doesn't do a good job at eating the excess of the hood). The overall shape of the hood for a helmet doesn't make sense and without a helmet the whole thing falls in your face. A couple of adjustments would be nice such as removing some excess fabric at the top of the hood and shape properly for a helmet and a properly adjusted draw string to keep the hood out of you eye site or falling over your face.
