Why We Like The Mammut Taiss Pro High GTX Mountaineering Boot
Mammut's original Taiss Pro Mountaineering Boot impressed alpine trekkers and fast-packers with its impressive lightness and reliability on technical terrain, so Mammut put a gaiter on it to give better coverage in snowier environments. The Men's Taiss Pro High GTX Mountaineering Boot boasts Gore-Tex for rugged waterproof protection, as well as performance-oriented breathability for hoofing it up the mountain. The upper is composed of Schoeller's stretchy and breathable soft shell material, and Mammut's Georganic 3D technology fits the upper precisely to the contours of your foot shape. Underfoot, the Taiss features Vibram's Ascension Litebase sole for reliable traction on various terrain, and has semi-automatic crampon compatibility. Finally our feet will stay toaster thanks to the Aluminia Insulation insole, providing us warmth and comfort in negative temperatures.

Mammut for the win!
These boots are absolutely incredible. If you're looking for a pair of lightweight, insulated mountaineering boots that doesn't feel like you're walking in ski boots, these are them. They required basically zero break in time and are without a doubt the most comfortable mountaineering boot I have ever worn. I "broke them in" on Mt. Hood and didn't end up with a single blister. I was a little hesitant with the BOA system but I am super impressed with the fit. I had originally bought the Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 and was pretty disappointed with the warmth. They are however just slightly less stiff so you might not want to ice climb with them.

Great Boots
These boots are amazingly comfortable and durable. Pretty stiff but once i got them broken in they are definitely the best boots ive ever owned

Awesome Boot
Very warm and comfortable. A little tight getting on and off in the beginning, had to stretch them out a little. These are replacing my La Sportiva Nepal. The boa system is cool, takes a little time to get used to.

Great product when paired with the right socks
I bought them for an expedition coming up, so they haven't been tested under very serious conditions yet. Have used them for ice climbing and while there is some flex in the sole (which makes them great for walking), it is a little difficult when ice climbing. I've also used them in -20C with merino wool socks, and they held their ground for the most part. When standing idly, I noticed my toes were starting to get a little cold. When using heavy duty Seal Skin socks, feet felt like they were indoors, very warm, even in -30C. I recommend if you're looking for something lightweight, compatible for beginner/intermediate ice climbing and mountaineering below ~6 000. Update: Just did a large trip in -30, kept my feet very warm throughout. While I did fall into a creek, I managed to dry them and they worked relatively well.

Perfect light winter boot
I am amazed at how light, warm, and well-built this boot is. I ordered a half size up, and fit is good with thick socks. BD Sabretooth crampons fit well, as I'm sure other brands do. I have used them in the Sierra Nevada and on the high altitude Mexican volcanoes, up to 18.5K feet, steep snow and glacier travel. Insulation underfoot is great, but since they are light, there is less insulation up top than a burlier boot. For me they are very warm to about 10 F/-12 C, which is more than adequate for the aforementioned locations. Temps colder than that you need to be moving, stopping for more than ten minutes likely will cause toes to cool down. Seen some reviews about it being hard to get boots on and off, I'd say it is about the same as ski boots or cowboy boots. My trick is to put weight on the heel welt with another boot or pole, and that helps me to leverage out, or just get a buddy to grab the heel and yank! Totally worth it to have the gaiter and dry comfortable feet.
