Fine boot

I was excited to get these boots mainly because they have the gaiter around the top to help keep debris out. Bonus points for the cute pattern. I've worn them daily for about 1.5 months doing really intense field work in all kinds of brambles and rose and autumn olive. They held up a lot better than I expected, given some of the other reviews about a lack of durability. Last week, however, both boots developed a small tear along the seam around the top of the foot, making them no longer waterproof. This was an unpleasant surprise as I was splashing around soggy fields trying to work. I patched them with some aquaseal and they seem to be alright for now. I wish they were made of a thicker rubber, but so far it's only been the two small tears. I will also say that I ordered a size 7 based on the measurements provided (and normally I take a 5.5-6, so I was surprised), and that they are far too large for me. They work well enough if I wear thick socks, but there's a reason I measured my feet before ordering. It does make navigating any kind of rocks or hills much harder because I'm sliding around inside of my boots. If I wear a slightly thinner sock, the extra room becomes obnoxious.
