Why We Like The NEMO Dagger OSMO Tent

The Dagger OSMO Tent isn't a one-trick pony. This tent boasts a sharp design that's durable and fuss-free which is just what we want from a do-it-all tent. Utilizing NEMO's own 100 percent recycled, GRS-certified OSMO fabric makes it highly water- and stretch-resistant, meaning if it rains those little lakes won't form on its canopy. Plus, the protected strut vents in the vestibules allow us to keep the air coming in even when it's raining. We like that it has an easy-to-assemble pole design to get our shelter up and running at a moment's notice.

Favorite Backpacking Tent!

I love the build of this tent! Plenty of space for me and one other person plus a bag or two at our feet. My favorite feature is the yellow light diffuse pockets for your headlamp light. It makes the lighting much more softer in the tent at night! The tent just fits two regular wide sleeping pads with a little overlap. Better to use one standard width with a regular wide for better fit.

Good tent with a few caveats

I bought this tent a year ago and used it extensively on the way to Compostella in Autumn and now in cold regions of South America. I am happy about the size of the tent for the tall guy that I am (186cm), and it's wide enough to just fit 2 wide pads. The OSMO material seems to hold its promises. The tent is strong and stable, even in a lot of wind. The mosquito nets have a good design. I am happy about my purchase, but: * the jack's foot feature for the outer fly is sometimes a pain to use, and it seems to be that it's fragile * I found the footprint a necessary purchase, but it is really expensive and has this same jack's foot feature that I don't trust in the long term * I love the pockets at the side of the tent, but found the purchase of a Gear Loft necessary too. It is useful, but some pockets let their content slide out, as others pointed out. Also, there should be a little explanation on how to hang this (the long side should be transversal to the tent's length), especially since the hooks are massively hard to use and can damage the little yellow attachment points. * There are not enough stakes for the extra guy-out chords. * The strut vents are a nice feature but do not always provide enough ventilation to prevent condensation. I have already had a fair share of condensation in this tent. * I am still figuring out how to not get ripples in the outer fly, even with all the bells and whistles, it remains very difficult to not have ripples (which are a catalyser for condensation) Nonetheless, I like this product very much, and would recommend it, even though I hope Nemo will fix the issues mentioned above.

Great Tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Minimal to moderate condensation when camping in the rain by the Oregon coast but it is SO easy to set up. Very grateful for the color-coding, making set up a breeze. The last thing I want when I get to camp is to fuss with the tent poles. These have the little magnetic locking thing in them which is super duper nice. Also the side pockets are very well placed. As we all know, a 2 person tent is really a one person tent. This isn't much different, although there's tons of space for one person to fit comfortably and you could, in theory, fit two people, though it would be snug.

Awesome Tent!

Great tent! materials are very lightweight yet feel durable. Only took it out twice so far but definitely is more than adequate for myself as a short trip backpacker. Squeezing two people in it is definitely doable, and the two doors come in handy. Very easy set up - everything is color coded and clips right into place. Love it!

Impressive performance

Used many times. This past summer a weather warning came in saying 30 knots+ wind gusts. Tent stakes got pulled up but I put them in kinda sloppy. Somehow the tent held up with me shinting in it. Poles didn't snap or any rips. Even with the fly stakes pulled up everything stayed basically dry. Really impressed. Minor complaints the zippers are a pain. The doors a little tight. jacks feet come loose. dont expect miracles from the vents.

My new favorite tent

Well made and easy to setup, this tent has been a welcome upgrade to my backpacking gear. The Jake's Foot corners have a tiny learning curve the first time you set it up but otherwise I'm a fan. especially when setting up the tent with a ground cloth. As someone that spends a lot of time camping in the rain, condensation on the inside of my tent has been an issue for years and I'm pleased to say that will no longer be a problem now that I have this tent.

Worked in thunderstorm

Bought this tent for backpacking with my wife. On our very first trip it worked for us in a severe thunderstorm without even flinching or using guy lines. I did use MSR ground hog stakes but that was it everything else was what came with the tent. Definitely actually high enough for two people. Had good ventilation all night long as well and enough room. For reference I am 5’11 200 and my wife is 5’5 150.

Worked in severe thunderstorm

I bought this tent for backpacking with my wife and on our very first trip it was put to the test. The two person version is definitively big enough for you and someone you’re close to and you have enough room to sleep without touching but just a few inches between each other and I had a few inches at the end of the tent. For context I’m 5’11 195 pounds and my wife is 5’5 150 pounds. We set up and staked out the tent fully without using any guy lines and the very first night were caught in a severe thunderstorm. There was intense rain, lightning, and 20-30 mile winds for several hours before it died down and the tent didn’t even flinch. It handled the weather with ease, no leaking whatsoever, and we had good ventilation as well with no condensation. It dropped from the 80s to the 40s at night. That night is when I realized how important it is to have gear you can depend on and as of now I have complete faith in my Nemo Dagger Osmo. Keep in mind my tent wasn’t even using guy lines either. I did use MSR ground hog stakes so I can’t speak on the stakes that come with the tent and I had the dagger groundsheet as well. Once you attach it to the bottom of the tent you can just leave it attached when you tear it down so you don’t have to worry about it ever again. The vestibules on either side were roomy enough for my gear and my wife’s and it kept everything dry. The pockets inside are convenient and the nightlight pocket for your headlamp actually works and isn’t a gimmick. The tent is easy to carry between two people but probably a little much by yourself. I would still personally use this for solo backpacking but think others would find it heavy.

GREAT TENT

Very spacious and lightweight tent. Plenty of room for two wide sleeping pads with room to spare for extra gear. It’s been great on backpacking trips as well as car camping trips.
