Failed- stock was incorrect

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Let me first start this review off by saying I never received the product. But I will review the accuracy of backcountry since I did order my size and it was out of stock, but did not alert me and went through the whole process of purchasing something that was clearly out of stock. I received an email stating this after the fact, a few days later, I called up customer service to resolve the issue, which between ordering through Klarna and dealing with the return process, which was much more complicated than I would’ve thought. I’m pretty disappointed to say the least. Not sure how the inventory thing got screwed up but I would’ve gotten these shoes for a discount of 30% off. They made no attempt to give me 30% off one of the other color ways which was not marked at that price so all around a big epic fail. I won’t leave a review of the shoes here because I ended up paying for them somewhere else at full price.

So far these Nordas have been awesome! I’ve raced them in Western NC and have put about 300 miles in one pair. They still feel like new and the tread looks great! These are perfect for those longer run/hike days and feel pretty quick when needing to pick it up on race day. Last run I did had a 5 mile downhill on packed gravel. These shoes allowed me to cruise down with no issues. Like Norda suggests, I bought a half size up and they fit great. Usually an 11, bought an 11.5. I also just went with my euro size, which remained the same in the shoe. If I had to have one annoying thing, it would be the pull tab on the heel. Sometimes little rocks or dirt gets into the shoe there and gets trapped under the foot. But I like these so much that I just ordered the 002 model for some faster, shorter runs. Excited for those!

00 Comparison

I’m a trail runner always in search of “the shoe”. Needless to say, I have a closet full of various road and trail shoes. My favorite brands are Salomon and On and I prefer a snugger shoe. I don’t require nor do I like a plush Hoka ride. Due to an injury early in 2023 and 6 months off of running I thought I’d branch out and hook up a new pair of kicks to get me back into running form. Given the outstanding reviews (aside from the price) I decided to grab a pair of Norda 002. I loved them! The reviews and comments on the 001 were maybe even better than the 002 (except for the heel lock down) so given my happiness with the 002 and a sale I splurged and hooked up a pair. Well, I love them more than the 002!!! Let me give you my take on the “Bond shoes” after about 10 runs in each (trail, road, races). 1. The 002 is lighter and has slightly less drop and is probably a better race shoe and good for short to mid distance runs. 2. The 002 has a thinner yet cushioned sole and thus you feel a little more under foot. I feel little to nothing under foot in the 001 and they are a really smooth ride. 3. There is more room in the toe box of the 002 than the 001. I have the same size in both and the 002 feels has less room up front and feels smaller. 4. Again, the 001 is roomier but not wide (I’m kind of a mid sized width foot). 5. Size up! If you have some shoes that are 11 in a brand and some 11.5 in the same brand go with the 11.5 in the Norda! When in doubt size up!. (Maybe even consider a FULL size in the 002). 6. The heel lockdown. If the shoe is the correct size it is not an issue and I get a really good (90-95%) lockdown. However, my right foot is a half size smaller and I get about an 80-85% lockdown even with additional lacing, etc. Thicker trail socks help. Speaking of socks…difficult to wear a thick trail sock in the 002 size for size. It can be done but its snugggg! 7. Both shoes are great in mud, wet roads, pavement, rocks, dirt or whatever and the wider outsole is very stable. 8. 001 is a more cushioned ride but still feels pretty light and durable and would be a great shoe to go long in. 9. Both look awesome! My wife just about sleeps in them (she has a Lilac 001 pair). 10. I love the feel of the upper and I don’t know if its waterproof but it holds water out quite well. I really like my Salomon S/lab Ultra 3 and On Cloudultra but I’m a Norda fan now. The reports are that they may last twice as long as many other shoes which would make them a good value. They are expensive, so look for markdowns and sales and make sure you size up. Both 00 make for a great running experience.

I was super excited about these. The promise of durability, along with the comfort and design sold me. However, after only two months of light/casual wear, they have begun to break down. It’s almost unbelievable for the price tag on these things. Very disappointing. I’ve attached photos.

300 mile review

Familiarity:

Super excited to give these a spin. Being one of the few shoes on the market that has a Vibram midsole along with a fully Dyneema upper. After the 300-mile mark on rough and rocky east coast trails, I can confidently say these are taking a beating and have no sign of slowing down. Little to no wear on the sole, upper, or toe cap. Zero compression after long days on the feet and they grip like no other, One of the few shoes that I've recently tried that I can put my full confidence in when cooking downhill. Sizing is a bit tricky. I am a size 12 in almost all other brands ( Hoka, Salomon, Saucony, Altra ect ) and these fit but only with very thin socks. Any trail-based thickness socks like darn tough create sizing issues. I would most likely bump up a half size next time to prevent this issue, but they are still comfortable. The only other downside is the lack of draining in these. With a Dyneema upper, they don't breathe super well and have zero drain ports on the side of the shoes. Would and will buy again. ##BackcountryGearhead

It's a Beautiful Looking Shoe

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
12.5

This shoe is so beautiful looking that it belongs on a fashion runway! The length of the shoe was spot-on for me. The description says it runs short so I purchased a 12.5 and it was ideal but as a point of reference, I also wear a 12.5 in Nike, Adidas and Hoka's whereas I am always a 12 in Salomon. So, is the short short or the same as other popular brands? The shoe has some volume but pulling the laces gave a snug yet comfortable fit. It was a very good fit overall except the ankle collar. It is very wide around with thin material; it is comfortable but despite using the heel-lock lacing method, I could not get a seal and there was always a gap - a perfect place for trail debris to enter. I do have thin ankles so this situation is likely specific to this. I have used other shoes with Vibram megagrip litebase and they wore fairly well; I question if these soles will last about the same. The upper will probably last forever,
