Full disclosure, I'm coming primarily from a fast, agile shoe like Nike Terra Kiger/NNormal Kjerag but have grown fatigued of the lack of grip from Nikes. At first, the 001 felt a little clunky/clumsy, almost too large and too much cushion but after several runs the footbed molds slightly and you get an unforgettable shoe. Cushion is something else, it offers a max cushion type feeling with proper bounce and rebound of a faster, maybe even plated shoe. Grip is probably the best I have had and that is also compared to the Nnormal Kjerag, which i purchased around the same time (thank you for the stellar sale Backcountry). Dyneema upper is bomb proof, which in my mind completes the shoe as the total package. Have around 100 miles in them, all sorts of trails and they show minimal wear. Expensive but well worth it if you can find on sale, only drawback is running up loose gravel/skree/sand they can feel a bit clumsy but the bounce you get on any type of firm terrain/singletrack is what I would seek from something carbon plated without the added weight and the plate. Run half size small, hoping for a sale on the 002 so i can grab a pair with slightly less stack but this is an Ultra level shoe for certain.
