Why We Like The Outdoor Research Echo 1/4-Zip Jacket

Whether it is being used as a performance top in the summer or a base layer in the winter, we love the Outdoor Research Echo 1/4-Zip Jacket for it technical performance features. Made from a Bluesign APPROVED and recycled polyester, the Echo is moisture-wicking, quick-drying, breathable and lightweight. With a UPF rating of 20 you can have more fun staying out and adventuring, and the AirVent moisture management incorporated into the fabric helps to keep us dry by wicking away and evaporating our sweat. arms way too large

arms are too blousy even in a medium.. Arms feel like a large not in length but overall size.

I own two, will buy more

I size up (from XL to XXL) because I prefer a looser fit; that makes the sleeves slightly long, but not inconveniently long. Thank you for the thumb holes, which make it much easier to keep the sleeves down when putting on shirts over this shirt. I often wear mine over a short-sleeve echo tshirt for extra winter warmth by itself or under a flannel shirt. The echo material feels great against my skin, and it slides easily over and under other clothes. I have not owned my quarter zips long enough to assess their durability, but I have half a dozen echo tshirts and tanks, and they have held up well. The echo shirts and tanks are great at moving moisture, so I often use them when on the treadmill or the Peloton (some of us sweat like cold bottles on a hot, humid day). The echo shirts also keep me feeling comfortably dry when hiking. The zipper has a chin guard of the quarter zip pull-over is MUCH appreciated. The zipper makes the shirt more comfortable, especially if I am wearing an open collar dress shirt, and it certainly makes it easier to don and doff the shirt, especially when it is over another layer.

Great shirt

These shirts are awesome. I own a couple now and will likely end up with more. The speed they dry is great.

Fragile, Handle with Care

I like the cut and fit of this shirt. Unfortunately, the stitching is less flexible than the fabric, leading to broken stitches. I lost the bottom hem of my hooded Echo shirt the first time I pulled the shirt over my head. The fabirc caught and pulle against my car's seatbelt, and now it has a run in the fabric. I have an Echo Hooded shirt that had the same thing happen when I washed it. These shirts cost too much to be this fragile. I would hate to see what happens if I ever go backpacking. I have similar shirts from other manufacturers, some I have had for well over a decade without this type of wear and tear. This garment runs similar to all other OR sizing. I wear an XL in all most manufacturer's but I am a XXL in OR sizing.

Perfect Lightweight Baselayer

Super comfortable on the skin and very quick drying. And unzipping is great for ventilation on warmer days. I own multiple!

Looks and fits great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually struggle with getting base layers to fit right, but it was plenty long and exactly how I needed it to fit for me. Would buy again.

Magic Shirt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very cooling in hot, sunny weather. Throw a rain shell over it to stop the air flow and it is amazingly warm. Wish I had one when I did the PCT because this would have been perfect

warm and packs small

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I floated the Platte River in Wyoming on a windy cool day. It was very warm and packs small. Just what I needed for the 4 hour trip.
