Patagonia 8L Sling Bag

When looking at sling bags, I was really torn between the Patagonia 8L Sling and the Osprey Daylite Sling. Price wasn't a factor because both are very affordable and I have had great experience with Osprey bags in the past, but finally pulled the trigger on the Patagonia because it is slightly bigger in volume. It's been about 3 months since I got it and love it so much I had to write a review. The phone pocket is the right size and has stretch material on top so you can add a granola bar or something else in it as well. The smaller top pocket has enough space for a mini pump, spare tube and tire tools, multi tool and sealant, as well as a few other smaller items I need for my cycle commute. The larger bottom pocket fits my rain pants and jacket with enough room to fit an additional layer or two if the weather calls for it. But the biggest surprise is that I've used the compression straps on top far more often than I thought I would. They are great for holding anything from helmet to food containers or the random stray stuffed animal I find along the trail. Another bonus is the clip in the top pocket, perfect for keys or my Trayvax wallet. Some days I'm amazed at how much gear and other things I can cram into it, I absolutely LOVE this bag!

It was too small.

Bag was made out of quality material. I think this bag would fit properly on someone under 5'5" and slim. Also not much room. Had to return.

Super Cute but small

Smaller than I'd hoped it would be, especially the phone pocket in the front. My Samsung plus model won't fit. Will be returning.

I am always on the go. I walk or ride my bike to work and downtown to run errands or meet friends. This is perfect to replace my purse. It’s just the right size to fit my wallet, a few essentials and my phone. The sling works way better than a purse or backpack. I love the ability to swing it around to access the zippers without having to take it off line I would a backpack or have all the pressure on one shoulder like my purse. This is perfect for the sporty Woman on the go and the Joy/pitch blue color is vibrant and fun. Love it!

Perfect On-The-Go Sling

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love the size of this bag, it not only makes it easier to take with you on a hike or on-the-go but also great to get something out of the bag without having to actually take it off of you. Definitely recommend for light travel and when you're on-the-go!

Finally my Iphone fits in the zipper pocket. Gone is the pesky separator that did nothing but take up room. I really like the updates and will get another color. Sure wish Patagonia would make a purple one for us who like some feminine colors to carry. For now black and navy will work for me. It's not super large and does not have a back slip pocket but it works for on the go and for travel.

A good bag with minor changes

I like this bag, and searched far and wide for a slingback that was going to be as versatile as my old one. (The zipper broke and they changed the design) On this Patagonia bag, I would like it to be bigger, with longer zippers, since I prefer to open my bags wider and not feel like it was straining as I put things in and take them out. I feel the narrow strap is quite wimpy on the bottom attachment, and could be wider, fabric instead of nylon, and connected with a swivel latch so you can carry it on either shoulder. As it is, it feels like it could eventually rip out from the main body. I also don?t love the pocket on my chest. It just seems unnecessary. I?m returning mine. I?ll get another one for sure if it gets revamped a bit.
