    The ultimate jacket.

Consider the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Jacket as a Jane of All Trades, if you will. This jacket touts a versatile construction that makes it ideal for early-season ice climbing, mid-winter skiing, or casually wearing in cool winter temperatures. As its name suggests, the Down Sweater is equipped with lightweight and compressible 800-fill Traceable Down, meaning the geese whose feathers insulate this jacket are never force-fed or live-plucked. Additionally, the down insulation is certified by NSF, an independent third party.

Down insulation is fine and dandy, but it's virtually useless without a little extra protection—which is why the designers at Patagonia outfitted the jacket with a durable recycled ripstop exterior that safeguards your core warmth, without compromising the jacket's lightweight constitution. And to bolster your defense, a DWR treatment easily sheds light moisture, so you stay warm and comfortable no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Horizontal baffles are sewn through to prevent the down from shuffling around, meaning you stay warmer, longer, while the updated, contoured fit and slightly longer hem length double down on your protection. Additionally, zippered hand pockets keep small necessities close by and secure, and an internal chest pocket easily converts into a stuff sack for the jacket.

Gave this jacket as a gift over the holidays and my sister absolutely loves it. She's taken it hiking as well as just wearing it around town and says that being warm is never an issue.

    Love it!

A staple piece in my closet. I use this jacket for everything from skiing to casual wear. I was pleasantly surprised about how warm this jacket is for how light it is. It's easy to travel with, or throw in your backpack on a hike. I was disappointed when I ripped it, but Patagonia fixed it on the spot with their amazing customer service and lifetime warranty. Do yourself a favor and snag one of these!

One of the Best Patagonia Products

This down sweater will always be my favorite. I had one a couple years ago an unfortunate lost it, so I bought another one and I'm so glad I did. I ordered a S (i'm 5'4, 125 lbs) and it fits perfectly. It's incredibly warm, and the down is ethically sourced which is a big deal in my purchasing choice. One really nice thing about this jacket is how compact it can be made. The inner chest zip acts as a stuff sack and you can put the jacket inside and it creates a pillow, something I have utilized in backpacking trips. For layering, I can wear a base layer and this under my ski shell and not go cold all day. As far as down goes, I will always order with Patagonia.

This coat is great to travel with, easily compressed down into bags and can layer sweaters underneath. This is the largest down fill that I own and I find that it is also versatile when layering for warmth. Great buy.

I bought this Down jacket for my mom as a christmas gift. Its warm, comfy and not as bulky as I would have expected a 800 down fill jacket to be. Great color, very stylish, my mom was stoked!

Just another guy who bought this as a gift for his girlfriend who always gets cold - but can't say enough good things about it. According to her it has kept her toasty every cold single digit day that she's worn it, it feels comfy, fits well, and feels like every part of it has been constructed in high quality.

I've noticed it packs up super well and has a great warmth to weight ratio. Doesn't hurt to have Patagonia's warranty on the thing either in case anything happens. Killer buy!

I got this as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and she loves it! It is not quite as warm as expected but it will work as a stand-alone jacket during the shoulder season and will work great underneath a shell.

I am tall with long arms and have a hard time finding jackets long enough for me but this worked out great! I purchased the green in a medium and it fits perfect. This is my first Patagonia jacket and it definitely wont be my last. I would say if you are looking to layer under the jacket order a size up!

Love this jacket! I wanted a black puffy that I could ski, hike and play in, this one fit the bill and then some. Patagonia makes excellent products that they will stand behind and this one is no exception. I've back country and cross country skied in this puppy and it kept me warm and toasty, even while skinning up ABasin on a -6 degree morning. Some of the reviews I've seen indicate that this is a pack-able down jacket, I, however wouldn't say it packs down well or that I would necessarily take it backpacking in the summer. If you're looking for something like that I would check out a different Patagonia puffy. I have brushed up against a few branches in the trees and even kissed the pavement in this jacket (dang shoelaces were too long and tripped me!) and it didn't scratch or tear the fabric. I ordered a medium even though I'm typically a size small because I like to layer underneath on those oh-so-chilly morning adventures. If you're not looking to do that I would just order your regular size.

    Almost a keeper

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Well my hunt for the perfect down jacket continues. I didn't like the hood design on an Arcteryx one I tried, so I thought this Patagonia jacket without a hood might be the one. I found the small much too large, and the XS not quite perfect. The sleeves seemed ok, but when I reached out, they rode up my arms about 2" making them too short. I found the shoulder area and arm openings a bit binding, and I have small arms and shoulders. The chest area was very roomy, but the bottom hem didn't leave much room with a sweater underneath. This jacket is much more straight up and down compared to the Arcteryx (which was an extreme hourglass shape). Also the Patagonia jacket was very long on me in the front. So overall, it was close, but just not quite perfect, so I'll keep looking.

    Finally!

I have been wearing the down sweater vest for years! That bad boy has stood the test of time with me and while I love the vest, I have been eying up this jacket for quite some time! I finally made the big purchase and am so glad I did! The jacket is so versatile! It is warm when you need it to be, breathable, and packs down a good bit when you are traveling! It is great on its own as a jacket but also integrates seamlessly with my shell for ski days! It does fit a bit small. I usually wear a large, and to get the jacket to fit the way I would like it to, I have ordered an XL. Great jacket! Great brand! Plus, I LOVE the traceable down!

    Can't go wrong.

Got this as a gift for my sister. You just can't go wrong with it. Perfectly sized, if not a tiny bit small, and all around such an epic jacket for every season -- even those cold desert nights in the summer.

    Never owned Patagonia

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I have never owned anything from Patagonia. So I thought I would buy myself a new winter coat, it's been years since I've had a nice new one. I will say I should've ordered a bigger size, however the coat is very warm so layers are not needed with it. It keeps me warm in Maine, as the weather can be some chilly. I do have a complaint, for the money I paid for it, I don't like how the zippers are always getting stuck in my pockets. It happens to me at least once a day. The inside lining gets wrapped up in the zipper. It gets frustrating and old real quick, especially if your phone is in there and it's ringing.

Why Discriminate Against Plus Size Women

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: None
    • Height: 5'8"

I would buy so many of your clothes but you have decided to discriminate against larger plus size women by not carrying clothes our size. Why is that? I would love a response to this please.
    Sincerely

    Gift for my mother

    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 145lbs

Bought this as a gift for my mother and she loves it! My mom spends most of her early morning tending to the horses, chickens, and walking the dogs in Michigan whilst wearing this coat . She also uses this on warmer days while skiing or as a base layer under a nice shell. Overall she is ecstatic about the warmth and comfort this jacket provides.

Can I wash this jacket or dry clean it? Recently, our AC shut off while we were away . Because of the humidity, everything has Mildew damage or at least had that smell.

    Unanswered Question

I wore this jacket twice but I think it's a little too big. Can I exchange for a medium?

I just got this Patagonia Nano Puff Sweater Jacket. I love the light weight, the feel and the color but the sleeves are way too long and the body is a little too long. Does it come in a petite?

for the patagonia down sweater, what is the difference between the sumac red and the turkish red? is one brighter than the other?

    Best Answer

    Adela,

The Sumac Red is a more muted tone than the super-bright, more orange-y Turkish Red. Hope this helps-- feel free to give me a shout if you have any other questions! llabar@backcountry.com or 801-736-6399.

Is the Cochineal Red truly red or more orange-y? It's hard to tell from the photo.
