    The ultimate jacket.

Consider the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Jacket as a Jane of All Trades, if you will. This jacket touts a versatile construction that makes it ideal for early-season ice climbing, mid-winter skiing, or casually wearing in cool winter temperatures. As its name suggests, the Down Sweater is equipped with lightweight and compressible 800-fill Traceable Down, meaning the geese whose feathers insulate this jacket are never force-fed or live-plucked. Additionally, the down insulation is certified by NSF, an independent third party.

Down insulation is fine and dandy, but it's virtually useless without a little extra protection—which is why the designers at Patagonia outfitted the jacket with a durable recycled ripstop exterior that safeguards your core warmth, without compromising the jacket's lightweight constitution. And to bolster your defense, a DWR treatment easily sheds light moisture, so you stay warm and comfortable no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Horizontal baffles are sewn through to prevent the down from shuffling around, meaning you stay warmer, longer, while the updated, contoured fit and slightly longer hem length double down on your protection. Additionally, zippered hand pockets keep small necessities close by and secure, and an internal chest pocket easily converts into a stuff sack for the jacket.

    • A versatile, warm jacket for climbing or casual wear

Classic insulated jacket that is great for layering or on its own. I unfortunately lost this jacket on a recent trip, but prior to that, I had it for 7 years and sustained many adevntures. 10/10 would recommend.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Women's

    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 120lbs

Love this jacket for temps above 40 degrees. I'm always chilly and want a lightweight jacket and this is perfect to wear when I'm out running errands. For years, I always thought the warmer coat was always the heavier coat, and this jacket has proved that wrong!

    Great jacket, great brand.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave it as a gift to my girlfriend and she wears it everyday. Looks and fits great. Down does a great job of regulating temperatures and the design and colors are timeless.

    For Extra petite ladies

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Xxs
    • Height: 5'
    • Weight: 87lbs

I typically can only fit medium in girls....this is my first adult size Patagonia since it comes in xxs. I actually fit it! For reference, 5 ft 87lbs. It fits loose, but not big and length is perfect. It’ll probably fit ok up to 105lbs.

    New favorite coat!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 145lbs

This year I decided I needed a new down jacket. I really struggled trying to find the perfect one (not too puffy, flattering fit etc). This coat has it all! It’s super warm but light weight. Took it on a trip to NYC 2 weeks ago and stayed warm despite the cold temperatures. I ordered the navy jacket with strait blue zipper in a medium, wanting a little extra room to be able to wear heavier clothing underneath. I really couldn’t be happier!

    Warmest, lightest jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 150lbs

While this jacket was expensive, I wanted something I could wear everyday that wasn't bulky but was going to keep me warm in the winter months. I cannot believe how warm this jacket is and how truly lightweight! It fits perfectly, isn't bulky, and has zipped pockets in all of the right places. I purchased this jacket on sale over Cyber Monday so I got a little bit of a deal (thankfully). If you want quality, warmth, and practicality, this is the perfect jacket!

    Perfect Everyday Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket as a gift for my mom, here is her feedback: "Super warm and comfortable, I take this jacket everywhere with me! I love that I can wear it when running errands, and not have it feel like a full on winter jacket. This is a must have!".

    Slim and Warm

I’ve always been a fan of the Patagonia jackets, I only use them for casual wear not really testing it’s durability. But I couldn’t be happier!

      Great packable jacket with warmth

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XS
      • Height: 5'6"

It looks thinner than a down jacket, but does keep you warm. I really like the jacket and found it TTS compared to the nano puff.

You need this in your Closet!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XS
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 105lbs

I bought a XS, very true to size.
I use it as a day to day street jacket, and for layering under my snowboard jacket. Very warm. I did have some down migration. But this is normal wear and tear on most down jackets. It only happened once and Patagonia has a lifetime warranty so I am not concerned. Other than that its holding up perfectly!

      Great jacket

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

Loving this jacket; it’s extremely lightweight and very warm. The fit
is great. I’m 5’3” small frame large bust and a medium fits true to
size with very little spread and no slack or snug at the shoulders.
The fabric and zippers appear to be very well constructed and durable.
      I would definitely recommend.

      The popularity speaks for itself

Gave this jacket as a gift over the holidays and my sister absolutely loves it. She's taken it hiking as well as just wearing it around town and says that being warm is never an issue.

      Love it!

A staple piece in my closet. I use this jacket for everything from skiing to casual wear. I was pleasantly surprised about how warm this jacket is for how light it is. It's easy to travel with, or throw in your backpack on a hike. I was disappointed when I ripped it, but Patagonia fixed it on the spot with their amazing customer service and lifetime warranty. Do yourself a favor and snag one of these!

One of the Best Patagonia Products

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 125lbs

This down sweater will always be my favorite. I had one a couple years ago an unfortunate lost it, so I bought another one and I'm so glad I did. I ordered a S (i'm 5'4, 125 lbs) and it fits perfectly. It's incredibly warm, and the down is ethically sourced which is a big deal in my purchasing choice. One really nice thing about this jacket is how compact it can be made. The inner chest zip acts as a stuff sack and you can put the jacket inside and it creates a pillow, something I have utilized in backpacking trips. For layering, I can wear a base layer and this under my ski shell and not go cold all day. As far as down goes, I will always order with Patagonia.

      Warm and compact

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 129lbs

This coat is great to travel with, easily compressed down into bags and can layer sweaters underneath. This is the largest down fill that I own and I find that it is also versatile when layering for warmth. Great buy.

Can I wash this jacket or dry clean it? Recently, our AC shut off while we were away . Because of the humidity, everything has Mildew damage or at least had that smell.

      Unanswered Question

I wore this jacket twice but I think it's a little too big. Can I exchange for a medium?

I just got this Patagonia Nano Puff Sweater Jacket. I love the light weight, the feel and the color but the sleeves are way too long and the body is a little too long. Does it come in a petite?

for the patagonia down sweater, what is the difference between the sumac red and the turkish red? is one brighter than the other?

      Best Answer

      Adela,

The Sumac Red is a more muted tone than the super-bright, more orange-y Turkish Red. Hope this helps-- feel free to give me a shout if you have any other questions! llabar@backcountry.com or 801-736-6399.

Is the Cochineal Red truly red or more orange-y? It's hard to tell from the photo.
