I'm a huge Patagonia fan, and have had pretty much all amazing experiences with their gear. With that being said, I'm let down with the quality of the Nano Puff. In the first month the stitching in multiple spots along the arms came undone (as well as my girlfriends Nano Puff). I feel the stitching overall on the Nano Puff could be of higher quality considering it's a $200 top. On the positive side, the look of the Nano Puff is really flattering. I love the cut, and hope that Patagonia can dish out some upgraded models in the future. For now I'll be looking into their new release, the Micro Puff. If you haven't checked it out yet definitely do!

The perfect lightweight winter jacket. I wouldn't wear it for an expedition to the south pole, but under moderate conditions, it's the thing. Warmer and more wind-resistant than fleece with similar bulk and less weight.

You can't take this off me.

So light, so comfortable. Really like the look and the fit of this jacket. I wear it just about every day, and couldn't be more happy with it! Great top layer for going around town, awesome mid layer if camping, biking, snowboarding, etc.

The nano puff is an incredibly popular jacket and it is hard to find anyone in the industry that doesnt own one or hasnt used one. The main reason is that it is incredibly versatile and is great for year round use. If you are layering during the winter or looking for a light jacket for a cool summer evening this jacket gets it done. Plus they last forever.

    Brother Loves It

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Brother lives in DC, where winter days can vary from t-shirt weather to ice storms. He loves using this jacket on the top for warmer days, and as a layer on the icy days.

Perfect for fall / light winter weather

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Great semi-fitted feel. Perfect as a layer or stand-alone. Well made and what you'd expect from Patagonia.

I bought this as a gift for my brother and he wears it everywhere. It's great for a fall jacket or a layer or the really cold days! He loves it!

Finally got one of these for myself and I love it. Fits great although it is a tad tight around the shoulders and armpit but not enough to be uncomfortable. Awesome for a mid layer on a freezing day and its great for the transition from fall to winter.

YOU SHOULD BE WEARING THIS RIGHT NOW

Absolutely love this jacket. I was looking for a light winter jacket without all the thickness of a parka or down jacket and came across the Nano Puff Jacket.....DEFINITELY A GREAT BUY. This is my go to and does really well when it comes to cold winds. Light, comfortable and warm.

Llight weight and warm - love it.

Light weight and warm - love it. Great if you travel. Brought a higher size to allow for layering.

Nice jacket, Gets the job done!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The nano is a nice light weight, low profile jacket. It is great to wear around town as an every day jacket or as a mid layer on the mountain. i am happy with the warmth of this jacket.

Not What I Expect ****UPDATED REVIEW****

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 160lbs

UPDATE: I am sad to report that the product is fraying at the elbows. I've used this product for one month. Seriously disappointing. I am right outside my return policy so now I have to send it to Patagonia to have them "fix" it.
Original: The Nano is a solid mid and upper temperature winter weather jacket that breaths well. I wish it was slightly warmer, but that's why they have heavier down jackets. I always get a small for anything Patagonia, regular jackets, sweater, dress shirts, condoms, but this was way too tight. The medium is perfect.

    Patagonia Nano Puff Insulated Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A great mid layer or as a stand alone jacket for the town or trail. It won't block rain or snow, but the synthetic insulation still retains heat if it does get wet.

    Great performance, odd fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super versatile and very high performance in wet/cool/windy conditions. A go to. Only problem is I'm between sizes. Purchased the vest version instead and I wear it as much as possible.

    All Around Winner

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

The Patagonia Men's Nano puff Jacket is an excellent jacket. It is both lightweight, and extremely warm when in cold temperatures making it amazing wear for both casual excursions and more intense outdoor activities.
The material for this jacket is also water-resistant as well, and dries very quickly if you ever get caught in bad weather. Overall the Men's Nano Puff jacket is a great looking jacket that's also very versatile in its use

I'm 5'7'' and about 148 lbs with 31.5 waist so what size should I get (I prefer a little loose jacket).
    Thank you!

    Hey Tuan,

At your profile and preference of fit, I would size with a size small on the Nano Puff. It has more of a regular fit to it, so that should pan out quite nicely. Give me a holler if you'd like me to setup an order for you!

How does the warmth of this jacket compare to the traditional Patagonia down sweater jacket? I have the down sweater jacket, and am looking for a lightweight, early spring alternative that can be worn comfortably in 25-45 degree weather?

Is this jacket enough for colder conditions with a layer underneath? Maybe 25 degrees and below? I'm in upstate NY where it can be really chilly!

    Hey Amy,

I am also from Upstate New York (Lake Placid), so I know how you feel about the cold. I would say this Nano Puff would not be warm enough to wear as a stand alone jacket. It's a great mid-layer because it's compact and light - but wearing this jacket in freezing temps wouldn't keep you super warm. Some other jackets you may want to consider: Patagonia Windsweep Down Hooded Jacket , or even: Outdoor Research Incandescent Hooded Down Jacket. Something with more loft and insulation is key for those NY frigid temps.

Let me know if you have any other questions and Happy Holidays!
