Rocked a Mexico surf trip

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
Large

This worked perfectly for me for a weeklong surf trip in Mexico. It covered up my upper torso really effectively. I left the hood down most of the time, with no issue. I like that it’s default position is to cover the back of your neck since this area usually takes the brunt of the sun. I did pull the hood up occasionally when the sun was getting to me during long sessions and it worked extremely well. It stays covering everything but your face from the jaw to the forehead, with the bill adding extra protection. Didn’t have any drainage problems with the hood like someone else said. The thumb loops at the end of the arm sleeve helped to keep it extended all the way down the arm and 3/4 down the palm of the hand. Never had any issue with the bottom pulling up above my waist. I’m a slender/athletic dude. It fit like a muscle shirt which is exactly what you want for a rash guard. If anything consider ordering up if you’re thicker than I. The material is stretchy so there is some play but it’s gonna show all them curves....just like a rash guard does. I pushed my luck and used the back pocket to stash my encased phone during one sesh. Not advised at all, but it didn’t open up through numerous wipeouts in 4 ft waves, and jah be good my phone was fine after :) Personally I would have liked to see some kind of way to secure an item within the back pocket, like a small sewn-in loop to attach things, similar to typical board short setups. As-is, it’s just a solid zipper action that keeps it closed. I wouldn’t feel comfortable stashing stuff back there on the reg, I was constantly checking the pocket as it was during my many wipeouts. Not a big deal though, that would be a bonus for an already awesome item. All in all this is another one of those Patagonia products I hope lasts a decade a more like some of their other gear I own, but time will tell.

Way too small

Familiarity:

Based on my experience with other somewhat similar Patagonia products (Capilene Cool Daily and Capilene Tropic Comfort hoodies), I bought 2 large R0s. They are so small they are ridiculous. Nearly impossible to get my torso into and the neck tightness almost literally strangled me. The brim on the hood, which itself is tiny, is stupid-looking. Back they go. Disappointed and surprised that Patagonia would make such an ill-fitting garment.

Great surfing rash guard for sunny days

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This is for surfing. Rash guards should be tight so that they don?t ride up. It is very tight, which is what I wanted. I wouldn?t walk around with it to look cool, but it keeps my neck and face from getting blasted by the sun. I wish it had water drains in the ears though. It takes a minute for the hood to drain after a duck dive or wipeout which is slightly annoying because of the way it sounds having a tight hood filled with water. If it had drains, I would give it a five stars.

I bought this for my son in law. He loved it! It does run small but costumer service went above and beyond to do a quick exchange! I love this company!

Changed the cut of this shirt

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought 2 of these shirts in 2018 (exactly called Patagonia R0 Sun Long-Sleeve Hooded Shirt - Men's ) and that were great for fishing - somewhat loose fitting. The shirt I received, in the exact same size is extremely tight fitting. Very disappointing where is the old version of the shirt...

Hood way too small for XL shirt

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XL
Height:

Weight:

Nicely made garment with one major flaw: the hood is way too small for an XL person -- once you manage to get it over your head, the elastic closure strangles the wearer, even at its most extended. Too bad, because it otherwise fits well, and would serve as a good rashguard. Had to return.
