    As classic as it gets.

The Patagonia Men's Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover is about as classic as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And like a solid PB&J, the Snap-T is designed to withstand just about anything and everything you throw at it—including jelly from the sandwich itself. This classic fleece goes back to the first days of Patagonia (think 1985) so you know it's built to last. Additionally, the heavyweight fleece offers steadfast warmth, while the four-snap placket easily unsnaps, so you're able to cool off quickly should the temperatures begin to rise. Y-Joint sleeves provide unimpeded mobility in the shoulders and arms, and the chest pocket keeps small necessities secure and close at hand.

    Synchilla

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I recently bought a synchilla and it has instantly become my go to pullover. It is really soft and comfortable. I like that it’s light weight and super warm, it reduces wind chill as well. I spend a lot of time outdoors, and while I wouldn’t call this item “packable”, it’s definitely my go to for sitting by the fire at base camp. I bought a medium because I wanted a more athletic style fit and I got exactly what I was hoping for. I’m 5’8 170lbs, if your looking for a more relaxed fit, go with your true size for sweatshirts. See you in the wild places!

If you live in cold weather...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

If you live in a place like Maine or New Hampshire ... in the winter and you want to stay warm ... this is the right piece of gear for you. Very warm.

    Rust Never Sleeps

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I've been wanting one of these for a while. Used to have a hand-me-down that was cool except that it was purple and I hate purple. So anyway, at half-price buying a new one (not purple) was a bit of a no-brainer. I went with the Roots Red, which is definitely more of an orange. Basically it looks like rust. Pretty autumnal, but that's fine by me.
Regarding sizing, which seems to be the white whale of synchilla satisfaction, I think it depends on intended use. I wanted something to wear over a t-shirt, or over a t-shirt/long-sleeved collared shirt combo, but also something that could fit under a coat, denim jacket, whatever. I'm typically stuck between a medium and large in all clothing (I can go either way, you know?) and chose to size down and go with a medium on this. It's perfect for the aforementioned uses, and a large would have been much too baggy. Sleeves are a good length, a bit bulky in the underarms, and the elastic is a bit tight in the waist, but that's how it is.
Bonus is that Patagonia is a cool company. Backcountry isn't half bad either!

    Wear it all the time

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 230lbs

This was my first fleece, and I can't imagine why I would ever need anything other than the Snap-T. Super warm, great quality, good fit/design, and reasonably priced. Patagonia makes great stuff and this is no exception. Highly recommended.

    Have to Get Another

There are two things I don't like about my Synchilla Snap T Pullover. First is that the arms are a little baggy for layering, so in the winter months, it's most useful as a casual piece. The other issue is that I only have one, so I don't wear it every day. I'll likely be remedying the second problem by buying another. Warm, comfortable, and it looks good just about anywhere.

    Just picked up another one!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I found myself wearing my original synchilla so much, I couldn't help but pick up another one! You need some of this action in your life. Trust me.

    Synchilla for the Win!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Patagonia does it again. These are my all-time favorite fleeces! I bought the white color for my boyfriend, and it's so cute and cozy! May have secretly bought it for myself! Love these because it will last forever!

They're popular, but for good reason

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

What can I say? It's a Patagonia fleece. It's gonna be soft, warm, durable, and over time, it will develop those comforting campfire-y, pine tree-y smell that will remind you that you should be playing outside when you're not!

    My New Everyday Fleece

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 180lbs

This Fleece kills it. It's SUPER comfortable and soft fleece that gives a surprisingly awesome amount of warmth. Super stylish too - I can't stop getting compliments on it from friends & strangers alike! My only issue is that I'm really tall and it's not very long and is pretty wide, but that's a style of its own I guess!

    Returned - Fit Was Strange

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Although the quality of this sweater seemed very good, I returned it because the fit was odd for me. I am a Medium in pretty much everything, but this was really big and bulky - felt like a Large or even XL.

    Stylish and Warm

    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"

Cool design on this fleece pullover and is extremely functional and warm. The fleece is really comfortable when in doors and as a layer when going outside in the cold and damp Pacific Northwest.

    A great, versatile piece

    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'1"

I bought this for my brother after hearing great things about it and he loves it. Very comfy and stylish. Can be worn for active outdoor activities or just those chilly days around town.

    Synchilla Snap-T

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 160lbs

A great piece for all temperatures. I live in Massachusetts and it can look good layered or alone. Have one in black and Nickel/ Navy blue in a Medium and Large respectively. Definitely order a size down if you don't like a baggier look.

A key Piece for any closet

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this as a gift, but have feedback to share. My brother is fairly active, and needed an item in his closet that kept him warm, but wasn't too bulky. The Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover is ideal for those crisp Fall days as a stand-alone, but also wonderful for layering in the winter months. The high neck is ideal when it's windy or cool, and the front pocket is great for car keys, an ID or even a credit card. Ultra comfortable, and versatile in wear. A great item while in route to the gym, on a hike, or even while running errands on the weekend. He's already requested as second one for this holiday season.

    Ummm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 168lbs

I love the pattern and the sizing is standard snap-t sizing (Medium fits me perfectly but I wanted this one to be a little bit baggy so I ordered Large), but the fabric feels less solid than its previous generations, or is it just me?

    Solid Fleece

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I love this sweater, it's kindof baggy but not overly so which makes for good breathability but also good insulation when used as a layer. I layer this under my Mountain Hardwear Dynotherm, and what it does, particularly in the arms, is bunch up and create air pockets that recreate the properties of down, essentially adding another down layer in the arms and shoulder region.

What size do you recommend for my son who is 6'5 and thin(185 lbs)? I know the large would fit in the body but I am worried about the sleeves>

I'm 6'4" 185lbs and I have a medium and it fits really well in the body, the sleeves could maybe be a half inch longer, but I have long arms and most stuff is a little short there. The large has an inch more on the sleeves but feels really baggy in the chest for me.

I am 6'1" and have 36" arms, but I am also skinny. Is there anyway to order a tall option or would I fit in a large?

If I was you I would order a Large. There's no way to get a tall, and the medium would be way too short. My boyfriend (picture below) is just shy of 6' and the medium was way too short on him, so we sized up to a large, and the sleeves are a little bit long on him. Should fit you perfectly.

I recently brought this from the manufacturer website. It haven't arrive yet, but I'm worry it might be too big. I'm 5-4 142 and I normally wear a medium shirt/ jacket. I don't my clothes to be too tight on me so I decide to buy a Medium. Would that size be too big?

this isn't a slim fitting jacket. I usually wear a size large shirt, i ordered a large and it fits just fine! I would assume it would be the same for a medium! if you wear a medium shirt, a medium should fit! If it's too big, go on Patagonia's site on a week day, chat with them and exchange it for a size down!

I am 6 feet, 175 lbs and usually buy L in Patagonia, however the color that I was looking at in this is only available in XL, will it be a loose casual fit for me or will I be wearing a tent? I noticed that some people said it runs large...

Has the design or fit of the Snap-T range...

Has the design or fit of the Snap-T range changed. I have an old (10+ years) Snap-T that is up for replacement and am unable to try a sample one on. Should I be going down a size or sticking with the sizing on my present unit.

Yes they fit differently. I have two old ones that although they are the same size, fit very differently. One was made in USA, one in Columbia. But this newest batch is all messed up. I ordered two of the new prints from the manufacturers website. If you will notice, they are not currently being offered on the company's website anymore, so they must have been made aware of the poor fit and construction by many people. They were much too small and I returned them with a note of my thoughts. I ordered a third new one from a different retailer. The fit on this one is better. But it is tight in the shoulders and has a lot of room in the belly. (clothing manufacturers must think Americans are REALLY fat, because everything is made bell-shaped nowadays.) There must be cheaper lycra in the cuffs and waist, because it doesn't stretch at all. Newest garment was made in Nicaragua. For a company that is supposed to be so environmentally conscious, I would really like to see what kind of shops these garments are made in. Why do you keep moving from country to country? Bring these jobs back to the USA.

If you look at the pic provided, you will see that the pattern does not match at the seam.

P.S. Stay away from the retro-x too if you have excema or sensitive skin. They say it's made from soda bottles. And I believe them.

    P.P.S.

Sorry to put you on blast like this P. But you asked for it.

I left the above comment from May 1st 2014.

I decided to give the lightweight snap-t a try since it was offered in Navy Blue. The fit and construction of the item I ordered matches the quality of the sweaters manufactured in the past. Maybe they worked out whatever issues they were having. It was manufactured in Nicaragua just like the one pictured above. I am very pleased with the newer garment.

    Hi, I'm 5ft5, 160 lbs, 42" chest, 32" waist. What size should I order?

I think a small might do it for you since the Snap T is a relaxed fit, but you're definitely close to needing a medium. Go small if you're ok w a little bit more of a snug fit, and medium if you won't mind it baggy and relaxed.

Thanks Ty. Just got a small and it fits perfectly. You're right Snap T is a relaxed fit. I usually wear shirt size between medium and large because I have broad shoulder. But this Snap T Small fits me just right. Very comfy and warm fleece jacket. Might come back for more. :)

How does this fleece compare to Polartec...

How does this fleece compare to Polartec Classic 300 (ie a North Face Denali) in terms of thickness and fuzziness?

    Best Answer

    Hey,

In terms of thickness and performance, being the same weight fleece, it's going to be roughly the same. It's a little loose if you size it right, but it's not going to be anywhere near the overall bagginess of the Denali, which is especially huge in the arms. As stand-alone pieces, both are cold when the wind kicks up...like of no use at all. Nylon panels on the Denali add a little abrasion protection, but not so much in the insulation dept. Both pieces work best as a mid-layer under your shell...great insulation in that case, but the fit of the Synchilla under a shell makes it superior in my opinion. Hope this helps.

How is this jacket in terms of lint collection/ease of removal? I had an old North Face that I got rid of because it always had lint on it no matter what.

    Best Answer

    Hey John,

I recently picked up a Patagonia Finmark poly/wool blend jacket and I've been pretty happy with it. It picks up a bit of lint and pet hair, but it doesn't hold it too much. All fleeces pick up lint. It's just the nature of the fabric and the texture. The trick is to wash it, then put it in the dryer with a dryer sheet and a wet towel. Those little lint rollers also seem to do a fairly decent job. Hope this helps you out.

Would this be worn as just a pullover that you would wash after every time you wear it or would it be used on an everyday basis. Reason being, I need a new jacket and was hoping everyone used it as an everyday jacket.

Hi there, thanks for the question. This is definitely a great every day piece and does NOT need to be washed every time you wear it. I'm sure there are some who have never washed their Snap T after years and years of wearing it and it looks just fine. Hope that helps!

I would try calling one of the Patagonia Outlet stores. You can find their numbers here: http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/store-locator
Also, Real Cheap Sports in Ventura, CA has a good selection of past-season goods. They will take phone orders and ship to you. I know it's tough when you find a color you like and you don't know if the company will ever make it again (though Patagonia often does similar colors with different names!). Hope this helps!
