    As classic as it gets.

The Patagonia Men's Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover is about as classic as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And like a solid PB&J, the Snap-T is designed to withstand just about anything and everything you throw at it—including jelly from the sandwich itself. This classic fleece goes back to the first days of Patagonia (think 1985) so you know it's built to last. Additionally, the heavyweight fleece offers steadfast warmth, while the four-snap placket easily unsnaps, so you're able to cool off quickly should the temperatures begin to rise. Y-Joint sleeves provide unimpeded mobility in the shoulders and arms, and the chest pocket keeps small necessities secure and close at hand.

A key Piece for any closet

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this as a gift, but have feedback to share. My brother is fairly active, and needed an item in his closet that kept him warm, but wasn't too bulky. The Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover is ideal for those crisp Fall days as a stand-alone, but also wonderful for layering in the winter months. The high neck is ideal when it's windy or cool, and the front pocket is great for car keys, an ID or even a credit card. Ultra comfortable, and versatile in wear. A great item while in route to the gym, on a hike, or even while running errands on the weekend. He's already requested as second one for this holiday season.

    Ummm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 168lbs

I love the pattern and the sizing is standard snap-t sizing (Medium fits me perfectly but I wanted this one to be a little bit baggy so I ordered Large), but the fabric feels less solid than its previous generations, or is it just me?

    Solid Fleece

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I love this sweater, it's kindof baggy but not overly so which makes for good breathability but also good insulation when used as a layer. I layer this under my Mountain Hardwear Dynotherm, and what it does, particularly in the arms, is bunch up and create air pockets that recreate the properties of down, essentially adding another down layer in the arms and shoulder region.

    Patagonia Staple

I've been buying these fleeces for my husband for years because they are really comfortable, warm, and look great. I bought this one because the leaping fish pattern looked awesome and I knew he'd love it. He has barely taken it off since I gave it to him. It fits very true to size and this year's fit is consistent with the previous years. I highly recommend this and if you are looking for a great holiday gift for someone - look no further! This is a great pullover for a great price and most anyone would be happy with it. For reference, he is 5'9" 175 lb.

    Classic.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned two of these. At 6ft, 180lbs, I moved up to a large on my second one. My first was a medium and hey, it wasn't half bad. The large is definitely on the bigger side, but ultimately for a funky, old school style sweater like the synchilla, the baggy fit just works.

Crazy soft and super cozy. When I want to be comfortable, warm, and relaxed, this is what I'm pulling out. Not a technical sweater, but classic outdoor styling that has been around for decades. Quality construction and clearly built to last these only get better with age. Patagonia nails it again with some killer patterns this season. I went with the Lifecycle/Glass Blue color and will say that it is a darker blue than what appears in the photo.

Consider sizing down or going with a lightweight synchilla for a more fitted style and staying true to size for a baggier fit.

Feel free to hit me up with questions on this sweater!

Great, once you get the sizing down!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs large

This is one of the softest pieces of clothing I've ever owned. Extremely comfortable and warm not to mention the various designs look unique and amazing. Nothing fancy about this apart from the patterns, it's just a straightforward comfy fleece that does what's needed. Runs a little large, I'm 5'10", 170 lbs with an athletic build and tried on the large and I was drowning in it, the Medium is even on the larger size.

    Cozy & Fuzzy

I love this piece from Patagonia, it's got a super retro look with all the modern functionality. I love how cozy it feels and can be worn on almost any day! A must have for any waredrobe.

I got this for my brother's birthday. He loves the material and says it is very soft. It runs pretty large. He normally wears a medium, but probably should have gotten a small. The pullover is really comfortable for a day around the cabin or just hanging out at base camp.

Great piece, but long-armed take note

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Got the Large in the forest carpet pattern, truly good piece. Can't speak to durability yet but echo the other compliments on warmth. Am a 43 or 44 chest and 36/37 sleeve so usually opt for "Large-Tall" size where available, but most L's fit okay. Also have the down sweater in L (both fall '16 editions) which is an ideal fit in chest and particularly in sleeve length. But the same size Snap-T -- at least my sample -- is a good inch or two shorter in the sleeves. With arms at my side, it rests casually just above the wrist bone and slides further up with movement. My imperfect rec to those of similar builds is L for best torso fit and XL for best sleeve length. Either would be doable, if not perfect. Medium ("sizing down") wouldn't have been doable at all.

    Perfect Layer

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

The Synchill Snap T is the perfect Layer for EVERYTHING! You can rock it casually and toss it in the bag for camping. Fits true to size and comes in such fun colors. Definitely suggest grabbing one.

Great shirt. I love Patagonia and everything they stand for. Unfortunately, this runs extremely Large. It feels like it is almost 2 sizes too big.

    Everyone should own one!

Yes they should! This fleece is the best: comfy, warm, great for camping or great for wearing around the house. You can't go wrong with buying it as a gift or for yourself.

What size do you recommend for my son who is 6'5 and thin(185 lbs)? I know the large would fit in the body but I am worried about the sleeves>

I'm 6'4" 185lbs and I have a medium and it fits really well in the body, the sleeves could maybe be a half inch longer, but I have long arms and most stuff is a little short there. The large has an inch more on the sleeves but feels really baggy in the chest for me.

I am 6'1" and have 36" arms, but I am also skinny. Is there anyway to order a tall option or would I fit in a large?

If I was you I would order a Large. There's no way to get a tall, and the medium would be way too short. My boyfriend (picture below) is just shy of 6' and the medium was way too short on him, so we sized up to a large, and the sleeves are a little bit long on him. Should fit you perfectly.

I recently brought this from the manufacturer website. It haven't arrive yet, but I'm worry it might be too big. I'm 5-4 142 and I normally wear a medium shirt/ jacket. I don't my clothes to be too tight on me so I decide to buy a Medium. Would that size be too big?

this isn't a slim fitting jacket. I usually wear a size large shirt, i ordered a large and it fits just fine! I would assume it would be the same for a medium! if you wear a medium shirt, a medium should fit! If it's too big, go on Patagonia's site on a week day, chat with them and exchange it for a size down!

I am 6 feet, 175 lbs and usually buy L in Patagonia, however the color that I was looking at in this is only available in XL, will it be a loose casual fit for me or will I be wearing a tent? I noticed that some people said it runs large...

Has the design or fit of the Snap-T range...

Has the design or fit of the Snap-T range changed. I have an old (10+ years) Snap-T that is up for replacement and am unable to try a sample one on. Should I be going down a size or sticking with the sizing on my present unit.

Yes they fit differently. I have two old ones that although they are the same size, fit very differently. One was made in USA, one in Columbia. But this newest batch is all messed up. I ordered two of the new prints from the manufacturers website. If you will notice, they are not currently being offered on the company's website anymore, so they must have been made aware of the poor fit and construction by many people. They were much too small and I returned them with a note of my thoughts. I ordered a third new one from a different retailer. The fit on this one is better. But it is tight in the shoulders and has a lot of room in the belly. (clothing manufacturers must think Americans are REALLY fat, because everything is made bell-shaped nowadays.) There must be cheaper lycra in the cuffs and waist, because it doesn't stretch at all. Newest garment was made in Nicaragua. For a company that is supposed to be so environmentally conscious, I would really like to see what kind of shops these garments are made in. Why do you keep moving from country to country? Bring these jobs back to the USA.

If you look at the pic provided, you will see that the pattern does not match at the seam.

P.S. Stay away from the retro-x too if you have excema or sensitive skin. They say it's made from soda bottles. And I believe them.

    P.P.S.

Sorry to put you on blast like this P. But you asked for it.

I left the above comment from May 1st 2014.

I decided to give the lightweight snap-t a try since it was offered in Navy Blue. The fit and construction of the item I ordered matches the quality of the sweaters manufactured in the past. Maybe they worked out whatever issues they were having. It was manufactured in Nicaragua just like the one pictured above. I am very pleased with the newer garment.

    Hi, I'm 5ft5, 160 lbs, 42" chest, 32" waist. What size should I order?

I think a small might do it for you since the Snap T is a relaxed fit, but you're definitely close to needing a medium. Go small if you're ok w a little bit more of a snug fit, and medium if you won't mind it baggy and relaxed.

Thanks Ty. Just got a small and it fits perfectly. You're right Snap T is a relaxed fit. I usually wear shirt size between medium and large because I have broad shoulder. But this Snap T Small fits me just right. Very comfy and warm fleece jacket. Might come back for more. :)

How does this fleece compare to Polartec...

How does this fleece compare to Polartec Classic 300 (ie a North Face Denali) in terms of thickness and fuzziness?

    Best Answer

    Hey,

In terms of thickness and performance, being the same weight fleece, it's going to be roughly the same. It's a little loose if you size it right, but it's not going to be anywhere near the overall bagginess of the Denali, which is especially huge in the arms. As stand-alone pieces, both are cold when the wind kicks up...like of no use at all. Nylon panels on the Denali add a little abrasion protection, but not so much in the insulation dept. Both pieces work best as a mid-layer under your shell...great insulation in that case, but the fit of the Synchilla under a shell makes it superior in my opinion. Hope this helps.

How is this jacket in terms of lint collection/ease of removal? I had an old North Face that I got rid of because it always had lint on it no matter what.

    Best Answer

    Hey John,

I recently picked up a Patagonia Finmark poly/wool blend jacket and I've been pretty happy with it. It picks up a bit of lint and pet hair, but it doesn't hold it too much. All fleeces pick up lint. It's just the nature of the fabric and the texture. The trick is to wash it, then put it in the dryer with a dryer sheet and a wet towel. Those little lint rollers also seem to do a fairly decent job. Hope this helps you out.

Would this be worn as just a pullover that you would wash after every time you wear it or would it be used on an everyday basis. Reason being, I need a new jacket and was hoping everyone used it as an everyday jacket.

Hi there, thanks for the question. This is definitely a great every day piece and does NOT need to be washed every time you wear it. I'm sure there are some who have never washed their Snap T after years and years of wearing it and it looks just fine. Hope that helps!

Is there anyway to get one in Elm Green anymore? I've searched everywhere (even Ebay) and can't find one. This site is the only one that even lists Elm as a color anymore...

I would try calling one of the Patagonia Outlet stores. You can find their numbers here: http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/store-locator
Also, Real Cheap Sports in Ventura, CA has a good selection of past-season goods. They will take phone orders and ship to you. I know it's tough when you find a color you like and you don't know if the company will ever make it again (though Patagonia often does similar colors with different names!). Hope this helps!
