    Tough and Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I ordered pairs of these pants for my son and me for a climbing trip in Custer State Park in South Dakota. We wore them in driving rain in the Badlands and on the Black Elk Peak trail, and for three full days of climbing abrasive rock in the sun. They showed little dirt and no wear and were super comfortable. I am a Prana convert!

    Great pants!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These pants fit to size. The fabric is comfortable, stretchy and light weight. I recommend these pants.

    Sweet pants!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I should have bought these a long time ago. Good time to buy with the sale going on, don't miss out!!

I would compare theses to Kuhl renegades, but with a tougher feeling material without the added weight. I do miss my cell phone pocket though.

The fit is spot on for me, not baggy but not skinny jeans either. I did go with a 34 and usually wear 33. The built in belt gives options as far as comfort. I do have my CCW permit and Appendix carry a G19 with a Vanguard holster, the built in buckle is right where it clips, so I have to move it over a tad. My Shield 9mm at 4:00 IWB disappears. I like the option of using my CCW belt or not, as I do not always carry.

I'm really thinking about donating all my jeans: Levi's, Cinch, Carhartt...these are good, but nowhere near the comfort.

I also have the Zion shorts in 10", will go 12" next time.

    Slim Fit?

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 31x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I have average sized thighs and these were too tight. I really wanted to like these but if you like some room in the thigh, you might want to look somewhere else. The waist was true to size; I guess I could order up and use a belt, but I'd rather not make such a compromise.

Very comfortable and durable pants for everything

    These are great!

    • Size Bought: 30/30

Absolutely amazing, so comfortable, fit great. Bottom buttons I think are unnecessary as when you roll them up they stay on their own anyways

    Comfy pants

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32
    • Height: 5'10"

These are truly a standard fit to slim cut in the waist. If you prefer a relaxed fit pant, go up a size and you will be fine. The material is great and help provide great freedom of movement.

Fantastic Pants But They Run Long

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 200lbs

These are my absolute favorite pants for climbing and hiking in hot weather, or just lounging around home. The fabric is stretchy and comfortable, which makes the pants perfect for bouldering. The only downside to these is that they run very long relative to the other brands of pants I have, but these are my first pair of Prana pants so that might just be a brand thing. Overall I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great pair of active pants.

Brings hope to an otherwise bleak world.

Perfect amount of stretch, lovely fit, and they breathe well. My wife tell me I look super-dandy and the water-resistance is awesome for when my son, standing next to me at the urinal bank, mis-aims and hits my leg.

I love the Stretch Zion Pants! It is one of the top picks around the Backcountry office. They are super stretchy, durable, comfortable, and look awesome!

97% Nylon, 3% spandex makes them very durable, and breathable. With a DWR finish for great water resistance and additional durability.

It is a great go-to pant for Hiking, Climbing, Travel, and pretty much anything you want to throw at it. As many of us say it's a great "trail-to-cocktail" pant.

They are a little on the longer side so depending on how long you like your pants. I'm 6 feet and 170 pounds, my general measurements are 32 x 32. I bought these in a 33 waist, 32 inseam. I like them a little more on the comfortable side but can still be snugged down with the built-in waist belt.

Your standard pocket layout, two in the front, two in the rear. Flaps over the rear pockets for added security closer, and one thigh pocket for stashing away personal items while in a harness.

You can roll up the legs with a built in snap closer if you just want to air out your legs, Articulated knee and crotch is great for movement when climbing, hiking, and overall movement.

I would highly recommend these pants!

    Best Climbing Pant!

    First Test

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 33x36
    • Height: 6'6"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I have only tried these on one time and have not used them in a performance setting....YET. My initial impressions are that these are extremely well made pants that have the perfect amount of stretch to the fabric, aren't too baggy, and aren't too constricting either. The fabric is heavy enough to settle down past the heel pull found on most of my hiking boots but is also light enough to dry quickly once wet. I absolutely love the adjustable built in nylon 'belt' and can envision using these for years and years. The only downside I see to these pants is that I don't believe the 36" inseam to be as long as they claim. I haven't taken a tape measure to them yet but they're about an inch too short for me. I am 6'6" and around 195 lbs. I am have a very lean, athletic build and have a very hard time finding performance pants that are long enough for me and that don't make me look like a goober while at crag or hiking through the Winds. My previous pants, a pair of Fjallravens, were definitely long enough. However, the fabric wasn't stretchy enough nor are they a heavy enough material to get past the heel pull loop on my 5.10 Guide shoes or any of my other hiking boots for that matter. Overall, I'd currently give this product a 4-star rating and would give it a 5-star rating and would purchase multiple pairs IF I thought the inseam fit as advertised.

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 36x30
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 195lbs

Picked up a pair of these last Fall and wore them on every single hiking and backpacking trip since them. The material is breathable and dries quickly which is a huge plus. Not willing to commit to the zip-offs it's nice to have the option to roll them up when it gets warm. Can't recommend these enough. Find your size and pick up a few different colors, you won't regret it.

    Great lightweight pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x 32
    • Height: 6'00"
    • Weight: 165lbs

These pants are lightweight and a bit stretchy. I'll be buying a few more of these.

    Great Pants...If You're Not a Toothpick.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 155lbs

After having worn various other Prana products, I figured it was time to try out the pant that put them on the map. I'll say I understand the hype, but as with other Prana pants the fit is just too loose for my liking.

I like to wear my pants tight - even in a performance environment. Just because you're wearing them day in and day out on trail doesn't mean your clothes can't be flattering. For me, the fit just isn't right. That said, there's number of features I can appreciate with the Stretch Zions. The roll-up legs, gusseted and ventilated inseam and low profile thigh pocket are all standouts. I could love these were they to fit a bit slimmer.

    Best pants ever

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is one of the best pairs of pants ever! In addition to high quality, they fit great and are extremely comfortable. They are great in the outdoors, and for all of my everyday activities. After wearing them a few times, I promptly went and bought another pair. I highly recommend!

    decent pants for everything

    Loves them!

I bought the Stretch Zion Pant for my brother and law as a gift before he heads out to Alaska for the summer. He has been hiking in them getting ready for his trip and loves the flexibility and comfort they offer on a long hike. He has strong/wider thighs and he doesn't get any bunching up or riding up on his leg!

A stated by a few reviews these pants now run slightly longer. Can this be confirmed by more people/gearheads before I place my order?

For reference, I typically wear 32x32 and the 32L usually drags on the floor for me but I like the look with shoes. However, I would not want it to drag too much like a 33L.

I had a chance to try at a nearby REI that did not have it available earlier. In my opinion, the length is, in fact, longer than a standard 32L. There is about the same amount of "crimple" found in other ~34L pants. The 30L's seemed more like a ~31L which is the size I will be getting.

    Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

    Unanswered Question

    Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
    Hope not, they were perfect...

Prana appears to make these in a 36 length as well. Can these be ordered through backcountry as well?

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

    - Kyle L. - Expert Gearhead

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

    Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

The S is for the waist size and the number is the inseam length. For a 32" waist you could go with either a M or S depending on how you want them to fit. The adjustable waist belt will fine tune the fit for you.

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

    Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

    Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

I want to buy these for my husband but how can you tell which inseam is which? He is a 32X30

The S/M/L is the Waist Size and the number is the length. Depending on how he likes them to fit he could wear a small or a medium.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

    Best Answer

I would say a small waist then pick the right inseam length. They come in three inseams 30, 32, 34.

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Definitely the XS. I am 5'7, 137 pounds and the XS 30 is a perfect fit.

I have a couple pairs of size small Stretch Zion shorts. Can I expect similar sizing and fit in the pants?

Cody, it will be the same sizing!

Is it possible to find the claimed weight of this pants?

    Best Answer

Trevor, the pants weigh 0.9 lbs in a medium.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

    Best Answer

    Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

    The belt is non-removable.

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Please email me if you have XS - 30...

Please email me if you have XS - 30 Charcoal.

We do not currently have that size and color in stock. We do not have an order for those from Prana. I'm not sure if we will be carrying that size.

Did they change the fit of these pants...

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.

Yes, they made them bigger! L used to be doable, but a little big for me, now they were huge. M fit fine now whereas they were tight in the hips in the past. I have always worn a M in the shorts, though.

Can you special order the xs size?

Can you special order the xs size?

We do sometimes have the XS in stock but unfortunatley none at the moment, and at present we are not able to backorder Prana products.
