    Favorite pants ever

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30x30
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 145lbs

These are by far the best pair of pants I own. They're stretchy enough for climbing, durable enough for long hikes, and comfortable enough for wearing around the house on a lazy day. Gonna buy another pair soon. 10/10 Highly recommend.

    You will love these pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large or 36/32
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I have 4 pairs of these zion pants. They are the quintessential active pants. They dry fast and if there was one pair of pants allowed on a trip, I would take these. They are like the Marmot driclime windshirt: don't leave home without them.

One word for these pants: WOW!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33 waist
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 195lbs

Climbing pants have really come a long way since I started, when we usually bought ourselves a sturdy and loose pair of canvas carpenter's pants. I have heard all sorts of wonderful things about these pants, and based upon responses alone, I figured they were worth a try, even with the hefty price tag. All I can say is that they totally live up to the hype, and they're absolutely everything people say they are. They're super stretchy, but not in a loose way...they fit snugly, but give you total range of motion. I love these pants so much I'm already budgeting to buy several more pairs, because I find myself wearing them daily for work and other activities, too. All-around awesome product. If you've been hesitating because of the price, just stop and buy them. They're my new favorite pants, and I'm even wearing them right now at work, sitting in an office.

    Nice pants, vanity sized

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 31x32
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 170lbs

Ordered these and have used them for climbing indoors and out, and for hikes where long pants are appropriate. I think I generally like them. Durable, allow nice range of motion, but I have been frustrated with the sizing. I wear 31 waist for most pants, and these are clearly too big at that size. You'd think a company tag at markets to climbers and yoga practitioners would be true to size!

    The Hype is Real

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33X34
    • Height: 6'4"

Heard so much about how these were the greatest climbing pants of all time from friends and online reviews. Guess what? They were right. Stylish, durable, well designed, stretchy, comfortable. The list goes on and on. Stop looking for a reason to buy them and just do it already, you won't have any regrets.

    The Hype is Real

    Versatile

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 120lbs

My dad needed new pants, and I knew I couldn't go wrong with these. He loves them and says they fit true to size and the fabric is very comfortable. He wears them to the office as well as hiking and going out to dinner. Said he loves how versatile they are.

    Just so comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: 33
    • Height: 5'9"

I wore these at camp for five nights on a canoe trip in Quetico Park to keep the mosquitos off. First of all they breath very well, it was quite humid there and i thought i was going to heat up just to stay away from those tiny blood thirsty monsters. Nope I was perfectly comfortable, fast forward to now and I'm sitting on the couch wearing my Zions writing this review. I've also been wearing the same pair to work (construction) and all of my clothes take a beating and these have yet to get a hole in them. I will be buying a few more pairs for the fall.

    The best pant's I've owned

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x32
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I've owned a pair in dark khaki for a while now and they are honest to God the best pair of pants that I have tried on. Almost indestructible. I've hiked with it on trips to Kilimanjaro, Half Dome in Yosemite and many other places and they are still functional with no tears. I can't say enough about the comfort level too as they are my go to on any flight. (My passport fit perfectly in the cargo pocket) Get yourself a pair and you won't regret it.

    Not just for men!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30/32
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 130lbs

After stealing my boyfriends routinely, I finally sucked it up and bought a few of my own. I usually wear a 5/6 or a little smaller in bottoms and the 30/32 are flawless. It suuuucks that women's gear never has functional pockets, which is initially why I wanted these. Good deep front and back pockets, a ZIPPING side leg cargo (but low key and not tacky, + the zipper is covered discreetly)....and a built in cinch belt. Absolutely no regrets and next splurge is likely going to be in more colors. Climbing, yoga, work pants, and actually kinda cute just running errands if you have a more fitted top on, ladies. If you're reading this, you need these pants.

One Pant To Rule Them All

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32W 32L
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I have worn these pants everywhere from rock climbing to hiking to casual dinner threads. The stretch fabric makes them super comfy and it is durable enough to withstand years of heavy use. The water repellent fades away after about 6 months of normal wear/wash, but they are still bomber pants.

Bought several colors after trying one

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 250lbs

These have become my favorite go to pants for work. They are comfortable, lightweight, and have some stretch. I've been very pleased.

    Need Better Design

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 135lbs

I like the belt being slightly to the side - doesn't compete with pack's waist belt - that's a positive. Material seems to be sturdy and clever design to roll pants up (with snap).
However: The small vent holes (upper inner thigh) chafed me. The front zipper should be longer!! The back pockets should be deeper. The fit (on me) is a little loose - more material than necessary on legs.
These were rated very highly on Outdoor Gear Lab. I've had excellent experiences with their recommendations/evaluations, but not this time.

    New favorite pair of pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I have a hard time buying pants. I'm nowhere close to being an elite cyclist, but years of riding on hilly terrain have given me fairly large thighs. For most pants, I need to go too loose in the waist in order to get a comfortable fit in the legs. The Prana Stretch Zion seems to have a more generous cut in the leg and results in a good fit for me everywhere. I love the system for cinching at the waist that lets you avoid using a belt. To be honest, I doubt that I'll use these much in the outdoors. Although I'm an avid hiker and peak bagger, I prefer to wear shorts in all but the coldest conditions. These are one of the most comfortable pairs of pants I've ever owned and I have no doubt that they would do great on a hike or climb.

    Comfortable, great for traveling

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34
    • Height: 6'0"

I really like these pants. They work well in hot weather and are great travel pants. They're comfortable!
Fit is true to size to maybe slightly large.

    Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 28/30
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 160lbs

The pair I received had the buttons missing on one pant leg that allow you to roll the leg up partway and secure it. I returned them and promptly received a new pair, return shipping paid by Backcountry.

I have always hiked in jeans, so these are quite a bit more comfortable, not as hot (but still hot), and much quicker to dry after washing. The best feature for me is that they don't start to smell bad as quickly as jeans, and when they do, they don't smell as strong. So when I'm in the backcountry I don't smell myself.

The only reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is that I'm not completely satisfied with the quality. There are some loose threads and a couple seams that look like they won't hold up for long. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but after just a couple weeks I'm already concerned about durability. I'm tough on gear, but these pants came new with these questionable seams. If they turn out to be merely cosmetic, I'll update my review to 5 stars.

These pants are awesome. They have a great fit and are breathable. My favorite pants for casual and climbing use.

A stated by a few reviews these pants now run slightly longer. Can this be confirmed by more people/gearheads before I place my order?

For reference, I typically wear 32x32 and the 32L usually drags on the floor for me but I like the look with shoes. However, I would not want it to drag too much like a 33L.

I had a chance to try at a nearby REI that did not have it available earlier. In my opinion, the length is, in fact, longer than a standard 32L. There is about the same amount of "crimple" found in other ~34L pants. The 30L's seemed more like a ~31L which is the size I will be getting.

    Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

    Unanswered Question

    Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
    Hope not, they were perfect...

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

    Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

    Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

    Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

    Best Answer

    Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

    The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Did they change the fit of these pants...

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.
