    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x12
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I picked up one pair of these shorts just to replace my old cargo shorts and that was it. I was hooked like the cutty that slammed my dry fly the other day. I bought 5 more pairs within a week. The length is perfect for me, sitting it just comes up over my knees about an inch and standing go past my knees just enough that I like the style but it's not ridiculously baggy. The hand pockets don't dump out everything when you sit down and the cargo pocket with the two zips is soooo clutch!! Not to mention these bad boys stretch really well and breathe really well to boot! The gusseted crotch makes my life so much easier too because I've got a long derriere and thick quads. The belt cinche also really helps when you may have had too many beers on the river trip or... you are 5 days in on a 12 day backpacking trip and jabbing another hole in your belt just doesn't sound too appealing. Definitely would recommend these shorts!! I hope they never stop making them because I'm a lifetime customer of Prana for these shorts.

I got them in the Equinox blue and I love them! The integrated belt works great. They're super breathable. I used them on a backpacking trip, and we were hiking through several rivers. They dried super fast, and have great stretch ! They were the perfect option for the trip!

    Best shorts in existence

The material is so soft and stretchy. These shorts feel great, fit great, and are well ventilated. The pockets are also very well designed. These are worth the $!

    Can't go wrong with these...

Wow, these shorts have been incredible. They have lasted me over 5 years and that's unheard of with my clothing. I've worn these biking, hiking, climbing, rafting, every where I go. And they even look good going out to dinner. If you buy these shorts, you will have a good time.

I have worn the 30x12 and my only regret is that I didn't get the 10 inch inseam. Over the years they have gotten slightly baggier and I think the shorter version would have worked better with me.

The waist belt has stretched out slightly and I have to crank it down now.

    Best Shorts Ever Made

If you are looking for the most comfortable and versatile shorts for any of your adventures look no further than the Zion Stretch Short. The nylon stretch material is super comfortable and adapts to any activity as well as being super breathable. The 10 inch inseam is perfect for me and sits just at my knees. These are my go to short for just about anything including, hiking, climbing, golf, and everyday use. I also highly recommend picking up a pair of the pants as well if you enjoy these. As for the fit they are true to size for me and all my pairs fit the same. I also just discovered while messing around with them that the zippers on the cargo pocket are actually locking zippers so while they are folded down flush with the pants they lock so your possessions don't fall out while you are sending it! If you are on this page don't even hesitate to pick some up, you will not regret it!

    Love Em!

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x10
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

This is my new favorite summer short. They are super comfortable and breath well with the Stretch Zion nylon fabric. The 10" inseam sits barely above my knee giving me a lot more freedom to move than a slightly longer short. I use them for golf, skateboarding, mountain biking, and everyday wear. The DWR coating beads water off if you get caught in the rain.

Greatest Of All Time GOAT Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 35
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 198lbs

These are the greatest shorts of all time!!! I absolutely love how comfortable they are thanks to the four-way stretchy nylon fabric. Perfect shorts for hot summer days and I'll soon be buying a couple other colors to add to the mix. There's also a secret pocket on the cargo side. I also have several other pairs of Prana pants and shorts. Highly recommend Prana!

    Perfect for any activity

Seriously though, I wear these not only for all my outdoor endeavors but for casual/work wear as well. Everything from the fit to stretch to feel is perfect. If you dont know much about Prana, I would definitely look into what they are about and all the sustainability efforts they put into their whole mission. Outstanding!!

    Favorite Shorts of all time.

The Prana Stretch Zion Short is easily my favorite pair of shorts, ever. I was turned onto them after purchasing a few pairs of the stretch Zion Pant (which is equally amazing) and I wear them all summer long. The Stretch Zion Fabric is comfortable and soft, it has a DWR finish so it wicks water and dries quickly. I ordered the 30X12 and they fit like a dream. The internal belt works great for backpacking and hiking when your waist measurement might fluctuate or a belt might be a nuisance. The 12-inch length brings it just below my knee, so if you want a slightly shorter version go with the 10-inch length.

If you consider yourself an environmentalist you need to consider the impact your clothing has on the environment. Prana is doing an amazing job leading the outdoor apparel industry to be a more sustainable and environmentally friendly by commiting to 100% organic cotton, removing plastic bags from the majority of their packaging and making sure all of their products are coming from factories that give their employees a fair wage and clean working conditions.

If you have any questions about The Stretch Zion or any Prana products don't hesitate to contact me directly.

    Favorite Shorts of all time.

    Functional, durable, and comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 35x10
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I wear my Prana Zion shorts on every hike. They're light but strong. I've put them through some pretty grueling situations and they've held up well. They have just enough stretch to allow for maximum movement and the moisture wicking feature keeps the goods dry and comfortable - even in the desert.

    Functional, durable, and comfortable

    Favorite shorts, beware of sizing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 35"
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I now own 6 pairs of these shorts, favorite all time. Love the material, durability, stretchiness, function and look. My only problem has been with sizing. With the old sizing, XS-XL, Large fit me perfectly. I just ordered a few new pairs, and figured the 35' would translate well to Large. However, 35' is quite baggy on me, so I probably need to downsize to 34". I haven't worn 34" since I was 14 years old! I am 6'3, 185 lbs. Seems clear to me that Prana got the sizing wrong on these, so I recommend sizing down.

    Great shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'8"

These shorts are awesome. Durable and comfortable. I own the pants and now a pair of shorts. Prana does it right with the stretch zion. Great shorts to climb with or just lounge around in, plus they look good.

    Best Shorts Ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 166lbs

My go to shorts for every activity, casual to backpacking. Love the fabric, 12" length (which takes it to my knee), pockets, and gusseted crotch. I now own 5 pair in assorted colors.

Decent quality but not nothing special

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 35 inch waist
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I bought the pants version of these, which are great. The shorts are OK but nothing special and a bit too thick for shorts materials - there are better shorts out there for the price. The sizing is also a bit tight. I usually wear 34 inch waist but had to buy 35 inch in these.

    Do All Short

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

What else can I say about the Stretch Zion that hasnt already been said? Nothing. These shorts rock and you can wear them through a variety of different aspects. Casual fridays, mellow mtn biking, wet wading high alpine rivers and lakes, and of course hiking.

Do yourself a favor, get some.

    Classic Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 160lbs

These cargo shorts have a classic look and are extremely comfortable. I would recommend the stretch Zion short to anyone looking for an adventure worthy short that still looks nice.

Newest addition to my Prana arsenal

    • Height: 6'0"

If you ever see me walking about SLC or the Wasatch, chances are I am wearing a pair of Strech Zions. After wearing a pair of my dad's hand-me-down stretch zion pants for a couple years, I picked up another pair as well as one of the winter versions. After falling even deeper in love with the Stretch Zion line, I decided Alex of the future will greatly appreciate a pair of Stretch Zion shorts come spring and summer.
I am psyched to wear these puppies on hikes through the Wasatch or or walks to the grocery store. They shoudnt dissapoint!

    This is my 6th pair!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32-34
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I can do anything in these shorts. I wont go anywhere without them. I can climb in them, hike in them and just go around town in them. Stretchy fabric comfortable everywhere and just all around amazing!!!

    Unanswered Question

I've got a pair of Larges from an earlier version. What size corresponds well to that? I wear a 34 - 36 depending on the pants (there is lots of variation these days).

    Unanswered Question

    color?
I ordered a pair in the indigo color and they look just like the blue ridge color from the photo. Are there two colors of blue, because mine are not indigo?

I love my size medium Zions, and they fit perfectly, but now they've gone to numerical sizing....do I want a 32 or 33 waist in the new regime?

I have the Prana Stretch Zion pants (love em) in small and they're still a little big, have to cinch the belt a little. I normally wear 30x30 pants, just wanted to know if the XS shorts would be TOO small. Any ideas?

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

The left side pocket is zippered (twice, actually, one facing up and one facing front - which is handy depending on if you are sitting or standing). The belt is not removable but it's very small and only shows in the front. Completely unobtrusive.

Can someone help me figure out my size, please? I wear the Prana Axiom jean in size 34 waist and 34 inseam. Some folks say these run large and some say these Zion shorts run small...

Can someone help me out? Do I need a Medium or a Large?

    Thanks!!

Kurt. Another Kurt here. I wear the Axiom 34 x 34 and the Theorem 34 x34. I have two pair of the Zion shorts, and both are Large. Fit the same as the 34 x 34 jeans. Measured the waist band with a tape measure, and they were identical +/- 0.25".

Just received a pair in Medium (my waist measures 33in over my underwear) and they are clearly too big. I can fit 2-3 finger widths in between but I can make them fit with the nifty built in belt. Is it worth exchanging for the a Small? The sizing chart shows a two inch difference in the waist. If it matters the Prana Mojo Mediums I ordered fit me perfectly. Thanks!

I wear a 28-29 short/jean. Will the small fit me? It's SO hard finding climbing clothing for my size!

    Mrwp269247,

    I know your pain.

I too have problems not just with climbing clothing, but with basically all clothing, as my waist sits right at that 28-29in mark.

That being said, I would go with the XS, I think the S would still be a bit too large for your waist, and you would probably have issues with the fit, as well as making them stay on while on the wall.

I've included a size chart I found on prAna's website, and according to them, you want to take your waist measurement and subtract 2" from that to determine what "prAna size" to get.

I notice that BC doesn't have any of that size in stock currently, so I would recommend chatting with a gear rep to see if they can find out when they will be receiving more sizes of the XS, if you do decide to go that route.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

How true to sizing are these? I wear 31's in most shorts/pants. The sizing chart shows S to be 30" whereas M is 32-33". Obviously, I fall in between. Don't want too baggy but I don't want my range of motion restricted either. Any help would be appreciated.

I wear a size 38" or XL in Kuhl, Outdoor Research,Mountain Hardwear and Patagonia. I just bought a pair of these in XL and although they fit, they're tighter than all others I have. I'm going to exchange for an XXL or more likely O.R. Ferrosi shorts which fit perfectly at XL.

    Hey David,

Even the if medium is a bit loose, these have an integrated belt that will allow you cinch down the short to whatever size you need, without looking weird. I have these shorts/pants and it's all I wear year round. I love them. You won't be dissapointed.

I have a pair, they like Matt says, they are Not black but a darker grey. It's actually a cool color, just picked up a 2nd pair. But definitely Not black, very dark grey. Would love to see-em in Black too. Great shorts, awesome shorts.

They are a darkish grey. Here is the color on the pants version. Same shade though. It seems a bit lighter than it normally is because of the lighting. Sorry, I'm a lousy photographer. Hope this helps though .
