Why We Like The Rab Mythic Ultra Jacket
The Mythic Ultra Jacket packs in the heat without piling on the weight. Rab thoughtfully crafted this ultra-warm down insulator with 900-fill hydrophobic down insulation for unbeatable warmth at a minimal weight. The Pertex Quantum face fabric keeps wind and weather at bay, and its as packable as the down insulation, allowing the jacket to fit neatly into the included stuff sack. New to Rab, and possible most technical of all, is the Thermo Ionic Lining Technology—or TILT—that sits between the down and the body, reflecting heat for maximum thermal efficiency.

Warm Jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- medium
- Weight:
- 170
I purchased this recently for an up-coming trip to Greenland. Purchased size MEDIUM. I have tried it on and it fits well. I am 5'-8", 170lbs, 32"-waist and the coat fits correctly The coat has adequate room to be worn over a medium fleece and shell. I have not field tested yet because it is a very warm coat and the temps in the mid-Atalntic have been too warm. It is very compresable and appears to be quality construction.

Great fit. Very warm!

I use this for my walks and winter temps down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Not as bully as the Positron pro that I picked up before. Time will tell how durable it is. I'm 5'11.5, 178 lbs with a 32 inch waist and 44 inch chest. The medium is perfect for me when keeping 1 or 2 max slim layers. Adding more than that would make it too snug for me.

Bizarre fit; beware Rab's fake reviews
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

So, I posted a review of this jacket on Rab's website. They took it down. I emailed and asked them why, and they said "we felt it was a personal opinion." In other words, they delete critical reviews of their products and only show you fake reviews and positive reviews! How sleazy! Anyway, this is well-made but horribly tailored jacket. It tapers severely from the chest to the hem. You can see it on the model, and on anybody wearing this jacket in online reviews: the fabric is slack around the chest and stretched taut around the hips/waist. The down gets compressed, which defeats the purpose. I am not at all overweight. I'm between small and medium and I bought a medium. Still too tight for a down jacket. Sizing up won't help because the chest area would be an empty bag. Forget about layering anything underneath. Also, the main zipper is good but the pocket zippers are flimsy. Too bad because there aren't many 900fp jackets out there, and this one has a good amount of down and would be very warm if it weren't tapered so weirdly that the down gets compressed. If you have a 45-inch chest and a 25-inch waist, it will probably fit well.
