Why We Like The Neutrino Pro Down Jacket

Freezing temperatures have a hard time stopping us from enjoying the outdoors, especially when we're in the Rab Neutrino Pro Down Jacket. Since it's protected with a Pertex Quantum Pro® face fabric and lined in Pertex Quantum, the Neutrino Pro is durable and flexible enough to withstand harsh weather conditions and ensure fun times at the resort. The Nikwax hydrophobic European goose down insulation makes this jacket incredibly warm and highly compressible, which allows you to stuff it into your backpack with ease. We appreciate that it also features a stitch-through baffle construction and chest and hand-warmer zip pockets.

The nicest jacket I've ever owned

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I am so pleased with this jacket. It's light to wear, but incredibly warm. Even in shirt sleeves and no sweater underneath, I'm warm, and I tend to be cold as a rule. The zipper slips easily, and the material is soft and comfortable. When I sit down, it doesn't pull at the bottom, but if that ever happens, I can unzip from the bottom. The wrists neck down to keep my arms warm, and the back is longer, to keep my behind warm. The side pockets zip to keep belongings safe. The top of the zipper has a small cover to protect my chin. I'm a swimmer, so I have broad shoulders, and coats often pull across the bust when I reach forward. But this jacket doesn't do that. There is enough room across the shoulders and in the arms for my arms to move freely, almost like they knew we might be climbing in it. :-) I would have liked more inside pocket space, and although I understand the hood size is to accommodate helmets, that isn't what I want it for, so it's huge. But these are tiny comments - I love this jacket, so much so, I bought two of them, for the time when the first one gets broken or goes MIA. This is the nicest jacket I've ever owned, and I've worn down jackets all my life.

A touch narrow in the hips

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
small
Height:
5' 3"
Weight:
130

I purchased both this jacket and the Rab Mythic Ultra (each in small) and wanted to offer some comparative observations. I am 5'3" and 130 lbs, a pretty standard small/4/27. I am looking for a lightweight and very warm jacket as an emergency to carry on ski tours and to descend in (I climb in pretty light layers and want something to throw on for a cold decent, and it needs to have room for holding my skins while still looking okay back at home), as well as for everyday work and travel in Wyoming winters. The 2 jackets are comparable in length, but the Neutrino is a bit narrower in the hips, making me wonder how it would do when you need to pull it out and pop it over other layers on a transition. The Neutrino's material feels slightly stiffer as if it would hold up better to snags while skiing through the trees, compared to a thinner/silkier feel to the Mythic Ultra's material. The Neutrino has an interior chest pocket and microfleece-lined main pockets, while Mythic Ultra has an exterior chest pocket and non-lined main pockets. The Neutrino's hood has a velcro piece to shorten if wearing without a helmet, while the Mythic Ultra's hood is hard to get tight enough on the head without a helmet to keep out the wind. The Neutrino did not come with a stuff sack, while the Mythic Ultra does. This all makes sense, as the Mythic Ultra is a true mountaineering jacket while the Neutrino is built for skiing and casual use. Still undecided about which to keep! The Neutrino in the red (heather/grapefruit) color is gorgeous.

My Favorite Down Jacket!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
XS

This jacket is so warm and cozy. Comparing it to my Patagonia Fitz Roy; it is warmer, slimmer fit, slightly longer sleeves and no cold spots. I also love the soft fabric on my chin when zipped up all the way. The deep heather/red grapefruit is also a very pretty and fun color!

Nice deep pockets and fit is great

Bought this to replace a patagonia puffy jacket and this is much warmer. I love the deep pockets and the inside pocket on left chest for smaller items. Love the deep navy color and the fact that it came with a stuff sack.
