Alp Mate Mid WP Hiking Boot - Men's

Excellent cross-over boot

I bought this as a sure-footed boot that would serve me as I guide people through Fairbanks, Alaska in the dead of winter. I have heavier, more insulated boots when the temperatures drop colder than -10, but until then... these are amazing. I don't slip, my feet stay warm, the traction is amazing, and they are comfortable to be on my feet 12-14 hours a day! Great boot.

Wouldn’t recommend this boot

These are my first pair of salewa boots. This particular pair I would not recommend. I like my boots tight and these are hard to get tight. The bottom eye string rubs against my pinky toe and almost gives a blister. I can’t wear them 2 days in a row

Great boots out of the box

These Salewa boots felt like they were broke in right out of the box. They are extremely comfortable, and great for not just walking trails but also very purposeful as a general everyday boot. I wear mine at work on the shooting range, and they have have held up great. I plan on purchasing another pair to supplement or rotate out with this current pair. My feet are fairly wide, so I went at least a half size up to compensate.

Great during my hikes/camp. Easy to slip on and tie

The second pair are great. First pair they sent me, the top lace hook broke the second time I laced them up. Salewa quickly took them back and sent me a new pair. So far, so good for the price. Only time will tell the rest.

Solid!

Firm and grippy sole provides the stability I was looking for wet or Icy weather. Plenty of insolation but breathable - no sweaty feet! A great shoe for most conditions with all day comfort. Size fit as listed, but maybe a bit tight- Once theyre broken they will be perfect. Color choices were pretty limited though, even for a specialty shoe... Still fantastic

Great Light Hiker

I actually purchased this as my every day shoe. Stiff sole took some break in but has been a very durable and comfortable shoe. I am on my feet most of the day from concrete to farms and ranches and needed a durable shoe that could keep up. I have no complaints now that they have broken in. I was a little worried at week two but they quickly broke in after that. I have also had a ton of complements on their style, more than any other shoe I have ever owned.

Solid boot

After 3 months of daily use, the boot is holding up nicely. Overall comfort is good. Waterproofing is excellent. Durability is good. Biggest complaint is the soles are hard. It took about 3 weeks for my feet to get used to them and not ache after 10hrs on my feet. Longevity beats Keen and Merrell, seems to be on par or better than Salomons Compared to Merrell, the interior feels similar, it's overall a little stiffer, and the sole feels hard, more durable. Compared to Salmon, the interior feels similar, it's a little stiffer, doesn't break in as soft, and the sole feels hard, similar durability. Compared to Keen, interior is much narrower, toe box is narrower, it's overall stiffer, and the sole feels hard, much more durable.
