I run trail in Colorado's front range, which in the summer months after the snowmelt is typically dry hardpack, rock, and steep. These shoes are great- except for their achilles heel, which is the Contagrip outsole. Mine are almost completely flat on the mid and forefoot where the lugs wore out after only 100-150 miles on them. I'm fairly small, 5'8" and 145lbs, with a light gait/ forefoot strike. WAY too soft of rubber for trail running, which is a shame, because otherwise I love these shoes.

Perfect Trail Running Shoe

I love these shoes. The low stack height makes them feel stable and nimble on technical trails and off-trail terrain. They are very comfortable out of the box. I have a medium width foot, and these fit my foot perfectly - the toe box is somewhat wide, but not too wide. The fit is similar to some other Salomon shoes I've worn (Speedcross 5 and Pulsar Trail Pro) but the toe box is maybe a little wider, and they also might be like a millimeter longer. They are pretty durable - I've had a couple lugs rip off from descending scree/talus fields, but they've held up pretty well on rough terrain considering how light they are. The midsoles have also held up very well, with almost no deformation.

Found my Shoe!

Love the S/Lab Ultra 3, spent 6 months going through and trying different shoes, finally found this one. I now have 4 extra pairs and am rotating 3. My feet are a little narrow, but they never get sore in these, fits snug but not tight, never have hot spots.

My favourite trail shoes!

These shoes are my all time favorites. I have tried many brands and many models and none compare like these. They are so light it is almost like you don’t have a shoe on and yet they still seem to have structure and amazing grip. Good on technical trails but also very comfortable for packed gravel or less technical paths.

Best Ultra Trail shoe!

On my 8th pair and I have used them for 100k, 100 miles, and 250! I would not use any other trail shoe at this point.

Great ground feel, stability, and lockdown!

My favorite shoe I’ve tried yet for technical trails! Protects well without giving up any ground feel. Always my go to shoe for shorter , faster trail runs or races! Narrower in the toe box than I usually prefer, and yet somehow they’ve never given me any blisters, even when I wore them for a 60k race distance. Good durability. Only drawback for me is that I don’t like the placement of the lace pocket, but it’s a pretty minor gripe. Overall, a fantastic shoe for fast but technical trails at almost any distance (I might prefer something a bit more cushioned for the longer ultra distances)!

Ultras & Technical Trails

This is my first shoe from Salomon, former Nike runner. I've been using this shoe for about 100 miles at this point through technical trails. I love how secure the heel remains on aggressive drops. The lacing and tongue system is really smooth and your foot feels really locked down. The shoe feels lightweight and responsive and great on most surfaces. The only surface I found this shoe painful on is the traditional road. Otherwise, this feels great on dirt and navigating rocky hills.

These just arrived but feel great so far. The materials are excellent - and I dig the colors. I can’t speak to durability yet but I’ve had good experiences with most Salomon footwear.

Best shoes available period

They’re still quite new for me so I can’t speak to durability yet, but in every other aspect these shoes are the ultimate.
