Why We Like The X Ultra 4 Mid Winter TS CSWP Hiking Boot

When picking a trail, we always go for the one with max elevation, epic views, and year-round snow, so it makes sense we lace into the X Ultra 4 Mid Winter TS CSWP. The breathable insulation and furry lining block out icy temps, while the waterproof construction stops snow and slush from seeping in. This boot brings the agility of a running shoe while still stabilizing our stride for optimal performance as we power up and down wintry steeps.

Very comfortable boot

I've been wearing these boots every day and doing a lot of snow walking. I normally wear women's 10.5 and even 11 in a hiking boot. The Salomon 9.5 fits with a little extra toe room. The size 9 was too tight. The boots have remained waterproof and comfortable. On icy snow they slip a bit more than I'd like. The only thing I don't like about this boot is the way the tongues gap at the top after I tie the boots. I remedy this by wearing gaiters to keep out snow, mud, and debris.

Really like these!

I had bought my husband a pair he likes them, so I bought a pair myself. No wet feet, snowshoeing off trails. Obviously you wear gaiters! We have a lot of brush, like raspberries and wild roses. I saw some reviews where people said they got rocks and such down the back. Pretty normal for a hiking boot. I prefer the lower back, easier on the Achilles. They are a winter boot, not for summer scrambles.

Poor fit at the ankle

These boots don't lace up snug at the ankle allowing pebbles and small stones to enter the boot making walking very uncomfortable. Today, I walked in a couple inches of snow and that gap allowed snow to enter the boot resulting in wet socks.

Great Winter Boot for Icy City Paths

I was looking for a rugged boot for navigating my winter city’s icy sidewalks and pathways — this boot was perfect and up to the task. Really great for walking up icy hills - very sturdy and stable feeling. Kept my feet super warm and comfy in -17 windchill!

Well impressed!

So pleased with these boots! I bought them for a trip to the Arctic circle, and they really kept my feet warm and dry very waterproof and can happily stand in puddles I walked across frozen lakes where snow and melted and feet stayed dry, except for one occasion where my feet got drenched but that was because of thigh deep snow and not wearing gaitors or making sure my trousers were properly tightened so no fault to the boots but I must emphasise that even though my feet were wet through these boots still kept my feetwarm!!!! Or Atleast my feet weren’t cold. Which I was super impressed with. Really comfy really happy with the grip, not the best for extremely icey paths but wouldn’t expect the grip to be good for pure ice anyway, otherwise generally really good grip. Very happy would recommend I want some more products from soloman and will be purchasing summer footwear definitely

Comfortable but not waterproof

I am an avid 4 season hiker and have been wearing Salomon footwear exclusively for years. They are the most comfortable for my foot, the soles are super grippy, and I really like the quick lace system. These are my second pair of insulated winter boots from Salomon, I loved my first pair and wore them out over the years. These boots are great but have one fatal flaw: they aren't waterproof. After their first snowy hike in the Whites, my toes were soaked. Thankfully it wasn't too cold out but wet feet in winter isn't good. I gave them a second try yesterday in the snowy Catskills, and once again I came off the mountain with wet toes. I wore gaiters both times. This is the first time I've been disappointed with a Salomon product and am hoping for a refund as I think the shoes are defective.

True Salomon Comfort/Quality

I was looking for a winter boot to basically wear with snowshoes, but also a boot that would be great for winter walking either on trails or roads. Already used to Salomon SpeedCross trail shoes, i decided to try a Salomon boot. The comfort, and fit was instantly felt upon trying them on. I love the fact that they are "roomy" and even though they are not considered a "wide" boot, they feel like they are. No cramped toes! The sizing tends to be on the large side, and i actually bought a full size smaller than what i usually buy. I have worn them numerous times as a walking boot, and also when snowshoeing. Would highly recommend and am VERY pleased with my purchase. True Salomon quality in terms of comfort, performance, fit.

Warm, roomy and comfortable.

I bought this boots on December. I have been wearing them with snowshoes or just to walk around town. My feet is warm and dry. They are very comfortable . I usually wear size 7 but I have to downsized half number to 6 and a half. I love the color and design. I highly recommend this item specially if you live in a snowy cold area.

Great winter boots!

This is my second pair of Salomon winter boots and I love them! I walk 12 miles a day and need a pair of boots that isn't too heavy or bulky. I also don't want them to overheat my feet. These are perfect!
