Why We Built The Stoic Bivy Suit

Designed for campers who want to explore their camp's surroundings without leaving the warmth of a sleeping bag, the Bivy Suit from Stoic is one of our best creations yet. We crafted this one-piece sleeping bag suit so that we really never have to take it off, thanks to the cooling two-way front zip and zippered thigh vents, and the pullover hand and feet covers that retain extra warmth when we need it. Because this innovation has become such a popular style, we extended the sizing so even more adventurers can appreciate the Bivy Suit's toasty cocoon.

So warm

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
XS/S

I bought this for camping, the always cold and windy softball games, and other cold events. I’m 5’4”, I bought an XS/S it’s a bit too long but you can pinch the ankles tight with the built in bungees. The arms are also a bit long but I like that it easily folds over my hands. You can easily wear pants and a hoody underneath this but I’d only do that for very cold temperatures. I tried it inside while WFH and I overheated. I suspect this is built for men even though the pics show a man and a woman. I love this item already and can’t wait to be too warm for a change.

Very nice.. for the right situation.

Size Bought:
Small

It’s like a gingerbread man sleeping bag. Great to lounge around and be cozy in. I wouldn’t go for hikes in it. I wouldn’t cook a culinary masterpiece. I’m 5’8, 130 and the SMALL is roomy, with very long arms and legs. I fold them up when walking. But the torso fits well, so go figure. For $100, I totally dig it. Use it for comfy cozy hang time. Not take over the world time. Oh, it’s super soft and light, but warm as hell!

I love my bivy suit! I’m a daily recreational walker and have worn this on many sub-zero New England days with only a base layer under and have been toasty warm. I have received some side eye, but those people sure looked cold.

Game changer for cold weather camping

I bought this to go camping in cold weather, to use with another traditional sleeping bag. It is great for that use; as soon as it got cold, wearing this suit was instant full body warmth.

Almost perfect

My main reason for ordering this is to stay warm while working from home and saving on my electric bill. I just received it today and so far, so good! It’s very warm. My only issue is with the sizing. I read all of the reviews and most state it’s too large, while others say it’s true to size. I’m a 5’8” woman and am pretty thin. I have a long torso and average length legs. I first ordered the XXS/XS based on the reviews. It fit but was too tight in the crotch when I sat down. Not horribly but enough where I would need to be constantly pulling the legs down in order to be comfortable. It was also impossible to fit the feet covers over my feet. I exchanged for the S/M and the legs and arms are too long but no issues in the torso length. It’s still pretty difficult to fit the feet covers over my feet, but I don’t think I’ll ever actually use them. In order for the legs not to drag on the ground, I have to tighten the elastic and cuff them. I also have to cuff the arms, because they’re so long, but I would’ve had to do that with the smaller size, as well. Someone shared a picture of their 6ft boyfriend wearing the extra small, which is partly why I first went with the smaller size, and I’ll say just because it technically fits doesn’t make it comfortable. I’m glad I went with the larger size because I’d rather it be baggy and comfortable than better fitting and uncomfortable.

Snow shoveling will never be the same

Just received the suit today and here are my thoughts: * Insanely roomy, beyond baggy, but I think that is a plus, since I planned to use it to shovel snow and maybe take a short jaunt while it's wintery. Probably the ultimate apres skiing onesie. *Very comfy, like wearing a thermal marshmallow, and despite threats from a spouse or other loved one to never go out with you in public while wearing the suit, it's quite a winter fashion statement. BTW, the stretch limo color comes off as a beautiful dark, dark, navy. *Field tested the suit today by shoveling the driveway at 20 degrees (10 degrees with 16 mph windchill), and I was as cozy as could be. Had to fight the urge to just dive into a snow bank, but will eventually have to do that to test the water resistance. *Buy the suit! Just look at the models in the photos, they are happy, and I probably had the same grin as I was powering through my snow shoveling chore, you will too :)

Life Saver

Familiarity:

Power went out for 3 days in OR, temps were sub 20 in the house. This suit kept me from realizing that it was actually cold and that I was dumb for not seeking proper shelter. Great for camping in cold weather or as a backup survival item in severe weather.

This is the greatest thing since sliced bread ! Sizing is crazy, but that depends on your point of view.I bought the lg/xl & I am able to completely cover my hands feet & head as if I were in a walkable sleeping bag and there is no better item to have in your " cold arsenal". Comfortable ,warm & you can, if you need to move around, do it by adjusting the suit. This is not going to let you play football in it, but you will be warm. This suit some alpaca socks & all the usual & enjoy comfort exponentially .

Pros- works as advertised. Covers everything. Pretty warm and is made for a certain purpose. Super “soft and cozy”. Not for rugged outdoor adventure. Packed- relatively small & light, for what it is. Cons- don’t have any! Awesome suit! As an Alaskan ( or ANYONE who lives in severe cold, very rural ) I think this piece of kit is necessary for us. Leave it in your vehicle, skiff, sled, quad, etc. They were marked down to $70! Got one for everyone and they ALL loved it! My daughter wears hers at her dry cabin in Fairbanks when she comes home from work. By that time the fire is out and the house is cold. She throws that on while she gets the fire going again. Her boyfriend wished he had one when his skiff broke down in the middle of nowhere earlier in the year. As for reviews dropping a star because it does not have something, like a 300 degree potty zipper- you knew this BEFORE ordering. So why drop stars? Just add it to the review. Also, the sizing is bigger than normal suits because this is a sleeping bag suit made to cover your outstretched hands and feet. 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Happy as a lil warm clam

Familiarity:

XXS/XS

I am 5’5”, about 120lbs and wear a size 28 pant. I ordered an XXS/XS on 50% off sale after talking with a friend who found theirs to be too big, and this is perfect. It’s still plenty roomy for wearing a thick pant and sweater underneath if you needed. I imagined it for car camping and after a ski day, but I’m finding myself absentmindedly putting it on just around the house and wearing it lounging at parties… it’s got serious swag. Only downside is wearing the booties isn’t very comfortable, but I flip them to the ankle and wearing separate booties. Same with the mittens. Decent for last minute needed coverage against the elements though!
