know what you're buying and its great

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

update to my previous review of the 4p - still love this tent BUT it can leak slightly. when it was a few months new I put it through a lot of rain and wind and it performed perfectly without any issues as long as the vents were properly closed and the rainfly guyed out away from the tent wall. Fast forward 2 years later and the stitching by the upper rainfly zipper is leaking. I don't think this was actually ever seam sealed but its loosening up and letting some water drip to the mesh - not much but a few drops but still it can get you wet if you're up against the vestibule sides in a downpour. And I was. Otherwise it's a simple dome tent that will keep you comfortable for a very low price. beats out any Coleman tent. and the 4p allows you to backpack with your family or friends when you split up the weight. We carried about 2 pounds each. not bad. I paid full price for this tent and now that its on such a steep discount I might just need to buy this one up in case they retire it completely, esp since Backcountry stopped producing the 2p version. The people who hate this are expecting it to perform like a tent 3x the price. Seriously get real and stop whining. this tent is awesome. oh and upgrade the stakes cause they stink.

Great gift

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have been looking to get a tent for my best friend, her husband, and their son for a while now. My sister has the 4 man version of this tent that I’ve borrowed a couple times and I love it. Main reasons for gifting this tent were compact size once it packs down, the interior height as her husband is over 6’, and a two pole set up because her and I go camping often and the system is so easy to set up alone if you have too, along with the high tub wall, and great floor space! Definitely recommend I’m considering getting my own 👍🏼

Great, unless windy

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Having used this several times I have thoughts. Love the space. Great details: interior side storage pockets, up top mesh shelf, rainfly vents up top that can be open or shut, high zip doors to avoid grit and wear them out. Downside is that wind wrecks this thing.

Great tent, survived storm well

Took this tent on its maiden voyage to the sawtooths in a dispersed site. It poured and there were 15-20 mph wind gusts and this thing held up great. Tons of room inside. Fit a queen air mattress and two big dogs with plenty of extra space. Easy to set up/take down and packs away to a small enough size for car camping.

Worked out well for us

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Hello! We recently purchased this tent and have used it once. It was super quick and easy to set up, YAY! The tent held up great, we did get hit by a hail storm and Madrone kept our stuff safe and dry. Another plus is that there are 2 main doors, one on each side. Our only complaint is that the top half of the tent is ALL mesh, without the rain fly there is no additional layer to keep any warmth in. This is not a deal breaker for us and I think for an inexpensive tent, it definitely exceeded my expectations. We will keep it and hopefully have a lot of good camp outs this summer!

Broken and holes

When I opened up the tent for the first time now that it’s warm I noticed the hook that attaches to the pole was broken, and there was a hole in the bottom.. very sad because the quality of it and everything else was great..

Had to sleep in my car instead

Size Bought:

Arrived in Fruita at a campground, set up the tent and the wind blew it flat! I thought windproof meant it could withstand a moderate breeze. Maybe this tent is good in a non windy place but we bought it to hold up in places like Western Colorado and Eastern Utah. It’s terrible and now my daughter and I are in our car while my husband has to sleep in a tent that is falling in on him. Will be returning ☹️

Great family car camping tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Our family of four primarily car camps. 6p tents give us the space for two double air mattresses and some room for misc packs. Chose this tent for our trip to Utah (Arches to Zion) since it was lighter and packed down quicker vs our other double wall tent. We have not tested this tent in PNW wet weather but I feel it would do fine. I liked how quick it was to setup, no pole sleeves to fight with. I liked the big doors, easy to get gear in and out. The small vestibule area was perfect for shoes. The tent was well vented too. I would think the small vestibule will be somewhat limiting in really rainy weather, but we typically don’t need a tent garage… or similar. Overall, pleased with this tent.

Great tent

Familiarity:

6p

We used it for the first time this weekend. Nice to wake up and have no dampness on the interior walls. It went down to 50 degrees and kept us plenty warm. Dried in no time at all on the exterior so we could pack it up quick. Set up was so simple even the 3 year old loved helping out with all the clips. Not having sleeves to push poles through was fantastic and made set up much easier. the bag it comes in is more like a cross between a duffle bag and you sinch it shut like a camp chair bag. So much easier to roll up and since close. no need to worry about the tent getting caught in a zipper.
