Innovative Insulation in a Stylish Package.

Stroll along snowy city streets in the Women's Thermoball Insulated Jacket by The North Face. PrimaLoft's innovative ThermoBall insulation mimics down feathers in order to provide the warmth you'd feel in most 600-fill down jackets, and it protects you from moisture in the same way that quick-drying synthetic insulation is known for. Unlike most synthetic insulation, however, ThermoBall makes this parka packable, compressible, and lightweight for traveling in cold conditions. And if you're not so much a city slicker as you are a mountain girl, the internal elastic cuff, hem cinch cord, and zip front pockets do a fine job of keeping the chill of the frozen precipitation on the outside.

    • An insulated jacket for casual or active use in cold conditions
    • Water-resistant shell for protection from mild conditions
    • ThermoBall insulation offers high-loft warmth
    • Internal elastic cuffs and hem drawcord
    • Stowable in pocket for easy transport and storage
    • Regular fit for layering versatility

    Sleek and Soft

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I didn't think I wear this jacket a bunch because of the shininess, but I actually love the product and wear it all the time. I have the black so it is super versatile. I wear it all the time as a mid layer for skiing but it is also a great jacket for wearing around the city, very sleek.

Really Great Mid Layer for Skiing

This is a great layer for skiing and casual use. On cold ski days I often use it as an insulating layer underneath my technical shell. Of course it's not as insulating as a heavy down coat, but it does a good job keeping me warm while I'm active. It has room for extra baselayers and moves well. It also seems pretty sturdy and hasn't had any difficulty after a season of regular use, both on and off the mountain. Bottom line, I highly recommend this as a nice insulating midlayer for skiing, or as a light weight casual layer.

I bought this for 40/50 degree hiking weather. It is stylish, lightweight and packs up inside it's pocket (this takes two people). It kept me warm and takes up little space. I am happy with it!

    Great Jacket for the price!

This jacket was perfect for Lake Tahoe. Not too bulky and more fitted which I loved. Wore two thin layers underneath and was never cold. The print was also so cute had many compliments. I am 5'2

I gave this to my grandma for a Christmas present last year. She lives in a different state than I do, so I don't get to see her often but when I do, the very first thing she tells me is how much she loves her coat. She loves the fit and the design of the print. It has kept her warm and comfortable and she couldn't be happier with it. Grandson of the year!

Not for the cold, 40 degrees and up ONLY

Was very excited about this jacket; my goal was a light down jacket that would be easily packable-but be warm enough for my ventures. It is light and is very packable....but as for being warm--it's only good for 40 degrees (non windy) and up. I unfortunately had this as my jacket for a trip to Grand Canyon in Late February--I wore an icebreaker shortsleeve for a base layer, a thermal NB jacket for my mid layer (midweight) and this as my outer layer. Yes, I froze. So the issue w/ this jacket is that it has NO wind resistance, and so while it was 32 degrees, the wind froze me into an icicle. However, since I was at the Grand Canyon, this is what I had. It was a very cold trip, quite honestly. Even when it wasn't windy it was barely warm enough even with proper layering. Backcountry was kind enough to accept a return for credit even though I have used it. I simply found it impractical (esp as I live in Chicago, aka Windy City) and knew I would not be able to use it much here. I have instead bought an ar'tyrx ultra light down jacket--much more expensive but I suspect much more practical--will review that once I've received. So, for actual hiking in 30 degrees, this is impractical and I honestly do not think I would even use this as a midi layer (it is light enough to do so) as I typically use icebreaker/merino heavier weight for mid layers when doing activities outside in the cold (far better wicking than this jacket which is sort of a nylon and just feels cold and wet when you sweat).

    Great jacket!

    • Fit: True to size

Love this jacket. Light weight and very warm. I wear it under a parka for super cold NYC winter days and with a fleece underneath for non-freezing days. I'm 5'2", 120 lbs and the small fits the way I like, a little form fitting. The best part is the shoulder/back roominess for my athletic build. I bought it in 2 colors, keeping both, because the price is great. Highly recommend.

    bang for you buck!

What a great, lightweight option for most of your day to day winter outings. Pack-able enough to throw in your pack for a day of hiking, wear under a shell for a day or skiing or fishing. Obviously when the mercury dips into the teens or below, you'll want another option. Stylish, light and warm

Piece of junk... giving it to Goodwill

Seriously? It's like wearing nothing. Don't bother wasting your money. It's not warm at ALL. Even WITH LAYERS. I'm very disappointed in the jacket, and in Backcountry that they would carry such an inferior product.

I just got in from shovelling the driveway in the rain (west coast weather!) even wet I stayed warm. The jacket is light weight but can handle below zero temperatures and you still stay warm.

I bought this for my mom, she is very easy to feel cold. I feel it is a quite nice and tight fit around the waist and the shoulder, quite roomy in the arm area. The arms are a bit long, though. Overall a great gift for my mom.

My urban navy Thermoball parka just landed. Great customer service!! I want to address the sizing. I'm 5'7, average build, always a small in tops. I almost ordered the medium in this, glad I didn't. It fits perfectly in small. Lots of arm room and a medium weight sweater underneath. I recommend staying true to your size. Wonderful jacket!

I bought this jacket to go under my shell in the winter when those temps drop. However, I have found that it is so much more than a mid layer. I've worn it on early morning runs and late night in Moab when the temps dropped. It's perfect under a vest as well.

It also washes GREAT! I've washed it a couple times now and dried it on low and no problems!
